Product Errors in Logs and Sidebar categories under Smart Content gone

My menu items under smart content disappeared the evening of June 1st, I am not seeing any default filters. Under Content Library my Categories DB is not loading. I checked my logs and I am seeing a bunch of product update errors, is anyone else experiencing this, is this another Daz Studio update flaw at play here?

Daz Studio hasn'nt been updated. How about your security software - has that updated itself?

  • Yes, it's the same for me .

Nothing hasn't been updated, recently I have been working to create my own categories to organise my products. Is their a way to reset Daz's DB, I have been noticing recently that some products that have been downloaded already don't show up in DIM for update but show up in Daz as needing to be installed, which is weird since they should have already been installed.

  • The issue seems to be very product specific, like Daz is trying to update some products in the DB using the wrong ID's eg.

UPDATE "product" SET name = 'CDI Poses for Genesis 8 and 81 Male and Torment 81', WHERE id = 5349)

I left out most of the query since it's not that important, but the error in the log states that the guid already exist, which it does for a product of the name mentioned but the 'id' is different, not sure why it is using the wrong id thats in the log. The only other error I see in my log is "2021-06-02 17:48:47.989 WARNING: ..\..\..\..\..\src\sdksource\interface\widgets\dzcontenttab.cpp(277): Bad category path: Root", not sure what this mean, not enough information given in the logs. Hope someone more familiar with this situation can assist.

Ok so in case this ever happens to anyone else, I had to uninstall all the products that Daz was complaining about in the logs before my left Nav returned to normal. So now I have products I paid for and can't use? The products in question are below:

Only Dress for Genesis 8 Female
    Archery Animations for Genesis 8
    Mars the planet
Z On a Hunt Poses and Expressions for Juan Carlos 8
Beauties of the World for Genesis 8 Female
Egyptian Poses for Genesis 8 Female
Descant Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)
Medieval Cyborg Chariot for Genesis 8 Male
dForce Hanfu Outfit for Genesis 8 Male(s)
    Lee 7 for Lee 8
    TOR for Genesis 8 Male
Classic Long Hair with dForce for Genesis 8 Female(s)
    Goya HairStyle
    Moorland Dragon Textures
    CC Angelic Accoutrements
Descant Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)
    Micaela for Gabriela 8
dForce Yumi Dress for Genesis 8 Female(s)

Did you install Fantasy Axe Collection?

I've had similar errors in the past with database ID errors. If I recall correctly uninstalling or reinstalling worked, because the database IDs are created when the products are installed (saved into the database) rather than being related to product IDs. There is also an option if you open the product from Content Library/Products Edit Product Metadata you can generate a new GUID, but perhaps try uninstall/reinstall first before you start tinkering.

The bad category path root error looks nasty: suggest you file a tech support ticket for that. DAZ Studio has default categories which it look up in the RootCategories.txt file when you install/upgrade the software. Those categories are then saved into one of the database tables and what you see in Content Library/Smart Content. A root category bad path error sounds like something that could be causing trouble.

If this was all working before 1 June and suddenly stopped working I would try to find out what changed on 1 June: if you didn't update Studio did you install any plugins or content? If not did DAZ Studio crash or did your computer crash or die on battery power? Something like that could typically be caused by software changes or data corruption when database activity is interrupted e.g. power loss or crash.

The only thing that changed is the app trying to update the products when the app opens. Uninstalling the products fixed the DB issue so now my left nav has returned, main issue now is what is the correct way to reinstall so that Daz will work correctly, I mainly use DIM now I am not sure because of the error, that GUID is good to know but not the issue since Daz is trying to update using the wrong product id anyway. However the RootCategory warning I am seeing appears to be a much more serious error that warrants more than just a warning as another product I have the renders my library is no longer working and complaining about root categories, thanks for pointing out where those are located, which is a Daz controlled file.

Thanks for pointing that out, yes i did and it did create a whole new root level category, Props->Weapons->Blades, I had totally forgotten about that. Do you know of a fix? It contains all the poses, is Daz QA sleeping, how did they miss that so many things wrong with that item.
