Think there'll ever be a time that DAZ includes Readme's?

I wonder if it will ever happen. I'm looking for my LA Pool and HDRI scene, having trouble finding it because Smart Content has no idea where it is, so I thought I'd look at the Readme. There's only that idoiotic "placeholder,' no actual Readme, and yet, at the bottom of the page the used to sell it to me, the very last thing is "See ReadMe for product notes." It's not like it's a new product, or anything like that...
Well done again, DAZ. This isn't the first time, and obviously won't be the last.
Doesn't it bother you folks that you're a dissapointment to so many, and on so many levels?

Unfortunately, you have to reload that placeholder a couple of times to get the actual readme. Most of the time it shows up after a couple dozen reloads, maybe even sooner.
Hello!
The Readme is actually there (see attached screenshot) but there is some stupid bug/web problem that makes many of them not appear on page load, one needs to reload many times, then it suddenly pops up.
Pretty silly, but that's how it has been for a while, Might be caching issue.

It sounds like they have a cluster of servers but one or more servers is missing data or has some other operational issue. That would explain why the readmes only show up some of the time. Sometimes you hit one of the good servers and get the data, other times you get the dorky server(s). There are ways an admin can troubleshoot the problem.
Not really! With $20,585.52 spend, I EXPECT them to fix their stuff.
Back in the day Readme's were actually inside the product folders when you downloaded them. Of course everyone did away with that and don't give a crap that not everyone has internet, or have bad/slow interent or have a limit on how much can be downloaded and are out of luck for readme's. Now aday's it's all about doing as little work as possible and make everything online.
Oh and readme's is also where you gave credit to people who's products you used like textures. Apparently no one believes in giving credit anymore.
As others have said, the read mes are generally there after a few refreshes. The read me link on the prodyct page is not Daz's, it's put up by the Daz Deals plug-in. As noted, for file locations you can also just use the Installed Files list or inspect the zip.
And this I mean with belittling and blowing smoke. Instead of apologies and a promise to fix the issue, there is only "smash-that-damn-refresh-button-until-your-keyboard/mouse-breaks."
We need a "like" button.
You only want to be the crowned king-of-likes with your impressive sagely revealings about the secretive machinations that threaten humanity's sanity.

We have reported the issue to Daz, with feeling, but I don't have any information on a fix.
It's funny seeing threads like this for me. I always delete the "readme" and "documentation" folders since I hae no need for them.
Yeah, I don't think I've ever looked at a readme for my own purposes.
looks for the "unlike" button
How stupid is it that I have to refresh and refresh to get something? Seems like piss-poor development to make someone do that. Also, how many refreshes? 10? 20? 30? I have better things to do that sit there refreshing a page.
Not your fault, I know, but they make it so damn frustrating.

The product library is how I find everything, and have since Studio version .8. I find the CMS is pretty useless: I haven't been a DB Admin in years, and don't want to be one any more. Without being one, and coddling the CMS, rebuiling it and refreshing it, CMS doesn't work well. I manually install everything now, as DAZ Central was a joke.
Turns out the "L.A. Pool and HDRI" is NOT in any form of "L.A. Pool" folder in \Environment\Architecture, but in a "Pool in L.A." folder, which is about 40 down from the "L's" in my folder. (I have a lot of environments.)
Nothing like obfuscating something to make people have to hunt for it...

I spend my time downloading files, checking folders, renaming folders, manually installing folders, having to create or rename folders because the creator seems to have no idea how to properly set up folders and Daz can't find the folder the files are in, guess how to use a product because there's no readme, resave files because they also are not named correctly and Daz can't find them.
And I have to repeat that hundreds of times. And some suggest I use DIM, Connect or Daz Central on files that are not properly set up so I can't find them after they are installed.
Now I must track down a vendor for an item I got a couple years ago because I keep getting an error using it. Fortunately she is someone who actually cares about those who use her products.
Why? I have gigs of content and rarely have to do any of that and have no issues finding content (using DIM, manual installs and the content library). I would say I have to rename or move files about less than 2% of the time and that is usually due to vanity folders or being buried to deep in folders.
I just submitted a problem ticket on this - in addition to the "reload forever" for the readme the problem exists for the file list. And, the topping on the cake, clicking on the "Export to PDF" link will result in a PDF of the placeholder. It turns out this has been intermittent from 2013 but became common August of 2020. I have 637 readme pages to download - by clicking on "Export to PDF" over and over again. This can take a while, as it runs from a minimum of 3 tries to something over 40.
If you've been capturing the PDFs look for any under 40KB - they'll either be the placeholder or a small readme without the product image.
How hard can it be to include the readme in the product instead? As a simple text file?
Then you don't have to searchfor it and copy-paste from the web, or search through your DAZ folders, but you can spend that time actually creating art .
In pronciple having the read mes as live documents, rather than packaged with the product, makes them easier to maintain. It also has the benefit, again in principle, that they are available pre-purchase.

I would much prefer the readme in the product zip, it makes it easier, you can keep it and store it in case you need it.
Renderosity does it and it makes much more sense, in my humble opinion.
Renderosity does, in fact, both; their readme files are online at the product page and inside the download container.
Both variants make sense and should be the rule here too.
But for starters, a working store which lets you see the readme files online would be welcomed.
