What's with the readmes?

Seriously... I get that they need to be generated when they first appear. Although I'm not sure why they are not generated before the products are released. But a readme that was there yesterday is not there today. They get deleted after a while? Why?! Seriously. Why do we need to reload the readmes dozens, sometimes over a hundred times to be able to access them? Even for items that had them a day before.
Argh.

plausible deniability?
I feel your pain. I don't always install products right away after buying them, especially if there's been a big PC+ sale or the like. When I do get around to installing them, I can't usually remember what they were by name, so I always check the readme to refresh my memory. It makes the installation process take forever since I have to refresh the readme pages a billion times before it loads in. I hope they will make it a priority to fix it soon.

And when was the last time you saw Resolved Issues updated? Lots of updates to the products, but no info about what was changed or why. It might be for your help ticket, or not.
Well I do know that any PA has to jump through hoops to sell here, so why are readme's and templates not included as must have in their products before they are accepted.
That's been a glaring omission to me as well.
I do like the online readmes. They probably aren't really big files but they don't take up space on my filling hard drive (other than in cache, which gets cleared), and DAZ can update them as needed (if they ever decide to do that again).
As noted in the other thread, the read mes are there - it's just that theya re not reliably opening without multiple refreshes. We have reported this to Daz (it's a mammoth pain for us) but don't have any details on when it will be resolved.
Is it just me, or are the ReadMe's now coming up on the first try? A welcome development. Now, to get them updated for the Resolved Issues.
I reload them dozens of times in the mornings. That generates them for the rest of you for a couple of days. :D
Your fingers must get tired. Or do you have a script for that?
I have modified my "new release dates" script to keep trying a few more times if it can't find the readme. Sometimes it still needs several runs. :(
"All" of them? I'm not just talking about new releases, any and all product ReadMe's come up first try.
Isn't that going to look like a small DoS attack?
And if you export them to PDF - check the result. Just because it displays doesn't mean the PDF generates properly. I have almost 630 PDFs to re-generate because they only have the placeholder image - right now, I'm averaging 9 exports for each PDF.
FWIW, it appears this was infrequently occurring as far back as 2013 but it became endemic August of 2020.
I have a ticket open - #378939 - but there's been no activity at all in the six days since I opened it.
Well, it looks like someone did something - I just exported 27 PDFs in a row from readmes that loaded correctly on the first attempt.
I'm not willing to call it fixed just yet, but if I can do this for another 50 or so I just might. I'm up to August 29, 2020.
The past few days the Read Me pages have been coming up for me on the first shot. Something changed to fix it.
Now if we could just get Release / Update notes when things are changed, then I'd be happy with the situation.
...Okay, I spoke too soon. I just went to check one of the recently updated products and that Read Me's (Juan Carlos) is coming up as Page Not Found.
EDIT... Spoke too soon #2. I just checked one of the updated products, Midori for Genesis 8 Female, and saw this under Resolved Issues: 2021-06-10 Corrected issue with duplicate formula id errors and corrected small metadata mistake.
"Page not found" means there really is no readme - I'm about to open a ticket on the 164 products I've got that haven't got a readme - I wanted the other issue fixed first.
Ah, okay. Thanks. That makes sense.. Odd that this one would be missing a read me. Juan Carlos is relatively new.
I've seen a number of characters that don't get readmes, even if they're the feature character of a bundle.
How else are we supposed to get the readmes? We have to reload the page dozens of times to get them. It's not anything automated, though—it doesn't do anything without me. It's still a lot less data than manually clicking the reload button ten times, when only five would be needed.
Edit: if it is indeed fixed, then it doesn't reload them at all, so yaay! :)
Pretty please, do include the readmes in the product packages instead. Cutting and pasting from the web is soooooooooooo time consuming and dreary!
sometimes it's needed to read the readme BEFORE one throws money at DAZ only to see the product isn't exactly as what the promo pics made it look like... so at least for me having a working readme available when an item gets put in the shop makes me more ready to pay for it... and vice versa
+1
The ReadMe function in the DAZ Deals addon with a link to the ReadMe (if there is one) from the store page is great. A quick check on the file list has sorted out a lot of 'is that included' type queries for me in advance of purchase.
I'm willing to state that the readme issue has been fixed; I've pulled up and exported to PDF over 100 of my failed PDFs and every one has loaded on first attempt AND exported to PDF cleanly.
