Victoria 8.1 HD vs other Genesis 8.1 HD

Can someone please explain the difference between Victoria 8.1 HD and any of the many other Genesis 8.1 female HD models? I'm confused why there are many Genesis 8.1 HD female models that cost one-fourth what Victoria 8.1 costs. I am willing to pay for quality but I don't want to waste money either.

All the Daz “core” characters are more expensive than the others. Some have morphs that can add significantly to the gene pool, others not so much. It’s really up to you if you think it’s worth it. I mostly only get core characters when there are good deals on the whole bundle and other perks. Victoria 8.1 also comes with vellus hair but so do many Mousso characters. Just look at all promo renders and user renders and decide from that if core characters are worth it.
I personally just got V8.1 because the bundle was a good deal during the Memorial weekend sale but it took me an hour to get the skin decent because I much prefer the older iRay shaders to the new PBR ones. That said, I was finally happy with my render. The problem with core characters is that many are very recognizable so it’s always best to dial some of them out and add your own morphs and tweaks. I would only get a core character if it came in a bundle with a great deal or if the character is extremely original. Depends what type of renders you’re doing too because PA characters are often more attractive and Daz core characters, at least with 8.0 and older, tend to be more average looking people, older, overweight or toonish.
It used to be that many PAs made characters based on core characters and you could rely on Daz to make well-made core figures. So one HD could be used for all your spin-off characters and the details would match pretty well. Since the official Daz HD morphs are always separate, you can also use them on anyone else, which makes them more versatile. But lately, there haven't been as many spin-off characters and frankly, Daz's quality has become somewhat questionable (Kiko 8.1 has several mat issues right now). The price also reflects the "name brand appeal" of getting an "official character" rather than one from a PA that you may or may not know well.
For me, I get Mousso characters and HD morph packs and use those when doing close-ups. Mousso's products hit fast grab regularly and are only like $7 then. Mousso* is great because the HD details are a separate slider with their figures, like the Daz brand morph add ons, but you don't have to pay extra for it. Not every PA does that. I also look for other cheap characters that include good separate HD morphs, and that will make me more likely to buy the character.
Once in a while, you can get official HD morphs for free. Those are nice to pick up.
I got this product on sale a while back, and it comes with a ton of nice HD head morphs you can mix and match on all your characters: https://www.daz3d.com/porefectionist-hd-skin-details-for-genesis-8-females . For body HD details, I can always use a Mousso HD Body morph if I want.
*Mousso also makes quality characters all around. We're talking vellus hairs, fibermesh eyebrows, fibermesh anatomical elements hair, SSS options, LIE makeups, specular maps, transparency maps, etc. Be sure to check the "what's included" to see what's in each package though. I am not sure each character comes with all those things. But most do.
