conforming figure to another figure's shape.

so im trying to do several nature pics for a school project and i want to make a snake eating an ostrich egg while using typical descriptions of how it can unhinge its jaw and yada yada yada.

i want to make a pic where the egg is, like, in the middle of the snake, and that the snake's belly shapes around the egg. i tried manually posing each segment but it looks hideous.

is there a way?

(i only used the chzor egg as an example since it was the first result with "egg" in my library

You could probably make a dFormer (Create -> New dFormer), maybe scale it a little on one axis so it's ovular, then move that down the snake's spine as needed.

i tried that but still looks bad. not as bad as manually adjusting the morphs, but still EUGH.

ive have happened to see rather... questionable stuff in deviantart with snake and, lets say, women. but what caught my attention was how the snake was perfectly formed around them.

i tried asking one of the creators but he never answered.

They're probably doing this by combining new morphs with smoothing modifiers. If I wanted to make a monster eating something I'd export the snake shape to Blender along with the egg, shrinkwrap the snake model around the meal, correct the poke-through and then export the .obj of the adjusted snake shape with the morph loader in daz. SimTenero Shape Reprojector might be your best bet for doing this without Blender because it's something similiar but automated for using only Daz.

How dense is the snakes mesh? You won't get good results if it's really low. You can try adding a smoothing modifier to the snake and set the egg as collision item. Might help. Or you could try to dforce part of the snake. Increase the size of the egg on a timeline.

select the figure, then edit - figure - geometry - add smoothing modifier

that worked halfway, how do i set the egg as a collision item?

Select the item after you added smoothing. Then in the parameters tab, looking for the mesh smoothing section and there will be a drop down for collision item which would be the egg

alright thanks. alternatively im trying the simtenero script and its been 2 hours and has only started pass 1.... of who knows how many.

one of the questionable things i saw on deviantart was an animation where the snake would deform realistically as the woman... well you know.

and i cant even make an egg...

It really depends on two things - how dense/uniform is the mesh they were using for the snake AND how much of the snake shape was modified. It's not very hard to create custom morphs for figures. If they're doing animations they very likely know they way around 3d. Exporting meshes, modifying them to desired shape, using those as morph sources etc. Very few things can be made with DAZ alone.

Ok... I just thought of something.

I needed to have a figure wear a hat.  So all the thair that was "under" the hat, I needed to have "go away" so it wouldn't poke thorugh.

I did a search an dfound that mcasual has a script called "hats are the fashion of the day" (Link to thread talking about it here on Daz)

To make it work, it needs another mcasual script called mcjCollider plugin

What I thought was happening with those scripts was that they (the script) was "erasing" the part of the hair that I didn't want.... but after using it (and it worked for hats/hair) I discovered that what it was doing was sucking the hair down close to the skull.

I am not sure you could use it, but you might be smart enough about it to figure out how to make it do what you want....  because that is essentially what you would be doing, sucking the body of the snake down around the object.

    Cheers!

i dont think the hat script could work it shrinks the hair above a plane

but i have a script named ... what was it ? .... mcjsuperlathe

    https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts2/mcjsuperlathe

it lets you draw the shrinkage/stretching

there's another one that's simpler to use but the deformations are selected among a limited number of shapes, but for an egg shape it may work
