Bugs in Daz Studio or not?

Hi all! I successfully integrated the Octane renderer into Daz. After that, I got this weirdness:

  • After working in Daz, I closed the program, but the application itself does not drop out of RAM. I had to open Task Manager each time to remove the Daz process, otherwise Daz will not start again.
  • After starting Daz here is an empty scene, did not do anything. And I wanted to close Daz, and Daz asks whether to save the scene or not. Although there is nothing there at all.

Before installing the Octane renderer, I had no such oddities.

Has anyone come across this?  What should be done in such a case?

How long are you waiting? DS does haev a lot of clear up to do, especially with moprh-heavy figures, but the Octane plug-in itself has been associated with shut-down issues. If there is CPU activity, and the memory use is decreasing, leave DS be - if not, it may b that something has caused the process to hang.

as I recall the Octane plug-in does create its own data object(s), those may well be what is causing the scene to seem changed.

I tried waiting 15 minutes. Indeed, after that time Daz unloaded himself from the memory... I should have waited.

If I don't want to wait, can I turn off the process after 5 minutes?

You can always start a new instance, ideally using the script in the attached post to set up a shortcut since you won't be able to run the script while DS is closing. Daz Studio Pro 4.12 - instances

  • The problem with DAZ Studio process slow exit has been reported and discussed here multiple times, I have even provided performance analysis using Intel VTune Profiler which identifed a potential hotspot, and I even found and posted references to that particular Qt issue elsewhere on the internet, but we have yet to see DAZ developers even take a look at it, much less try and do something about it.

You have spy cams in place? or, perhaps, hacked their Zoom chats? I would think the developers have already carried out their own analyses - but they, and product management, are having to balance many factors - and cannot lightly make arbitrary changes in mid run which maya ffect existing content and add-ons.

Back when I was trying out the octane plugin, I had it holding daz process open for days, had to task bar quit it.
