I have Daz studio 4.15.0.2 Pro running on WIndows 10 Education V 20H2 build 19042.572. The Content Library pane has a DAZ Studio Formats folder and under that a DAZ 3D Library folder. Under some subfolders such as people > characters, everything I expect to be there is there. However under props every object I have installed manually shows all the expected subfolders, but every one of them is empty of files. The file tree appears but no files appear. That includes both the icon mode and the list mode.

Do you know why?

Hving none of the files listed makes it very difficult to find any of them. The content pane search function is essentially worthless. I can type in the exact name of an object (found from the windows file explorer) and the search function cannot find it. That brings the issue of searching not only in Daz studio, but also the forums. I presume that this question has been asked and answered somewhere on these forums. But the forum search function is equally worthless. It either returns hundreds of results because it found one of the words I typed in, or it finds nothing. I understand that this is all gratis and I am grateful to DAz for making it so. But if Daz were to imporve their search capabilities in both their programs and the forums, they would probably get many fewer support tickets. I think that ultimately Daz would save money if they made the search functionalities usable.

  • Thank you for your response, Perttia.  I understand the directory tree structure as shown in the figure you pointed me to. I follow those rules in my own installation.  But that's not the problem. The problem is that none of the files appear in the subdirectories of the props directory. All the directories are there under the Content Library pane, but none of the files are listed inside them. The files are visible in the window file explorer, so I know they are there. I cannot figure out why they are not shown in the Content Library.

We would need to see, what do you actually have in those Prop folders and how are your Content Libraries set in Content Library Manager.

  • It turns out that the missing files are all poser related. But they do not appear under Poser formats either.  I will try to find an explanation of how to import poser content into DS.  If you happen to know of a good tutorial on that, I would much appreciate it if you posted a link to it.
