iRay Render Settings for nVidia

I've upgraded to a new PC and I've finally got an nVidia card.
As it's a fresh install of DAZ everything is default settings.
Is there a guide to changing the settings to get the most of of my i9/RTX 3080Ti system somewhere please? Many thanks!

In the Advanced tab of render Setings try deselecting the CPU as a render device - having it both render and manage teh render can actually worsen performance. Other than that the defaults should, I think, be good.

Up until now I've always had both CPU (i7) and GPU (RTX 2080) selected.  Is it a general recommendation that I should deselect the CPU?

Give it a try. Unless you got a real beast CPU, CPU checked is either gonna slow down the render, or it's gonna shave off such a small number, it doesn't seem worth it to stress the CPU and maybe shorten it's life. At least IMO it's not worth it. Last try I did, my ryzen only shaved off I think it was like 20 seconds. Not worth it for the electricity it uses, and the heat it gives off lol.

Thanks TheKD. My i7-1070K I suppose isn't considered a beast. It's at about 100% during renders so it must be helping a bit. I'll try deslecting it the next time I render and see how it goes. Thanks for your advice.

Great. Thanks, I wasn't sure what to do there. Thanks for the tip!

I have an 8 yo 4 core Xeon machine, with a GTX 1060. When running one render over the weekend I forgot to check & DS4.15/iRay had decided to render in CPU. It had reached 4% after 48 mins. I stopped the render, re-started DS and rendered in GPU. Took 4 mins to completion. That gives an idea of the speed advantage of a GPU over a CPU. And my GTX 1060 isn't a patch on any RTX 30x0 GPU; however the Xeon CPU isn't much slower than the 6 core i7 CPU in my 2yo work machine, to the extent I cannot really tell the difference when working on the two.

    Regards,

    Richard
