A Forum Fix Request.

McGyverMcGyver Posts: 7,066

I hate to be a pain in the ass and I realize this is probably not a big deal to most people and that the people in charge of keeping the forums from bursting into flames probably have lots of other more important problems to deal with...

But...

Can someone pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese look into fixing the broken quoting function... it's super tedious to try and follow anything when you have to read through like four or five un-nested quotes... and if you are quoting someone, it's really difficult and cumbersome to erase unnecessary previous quotes, or unnecessary parts of their, unnecessary images and whatnot... especially if you are doing it on a tablet (some people do that).

Lately even erasing previous quotes or even responding to a quote has been broken as randomly you response ends up be stuck inside the quote.

We don't have weekly freebies anymore, can someone see if the some of the savings from that be diverted to fixing this?

The forums are based on people understanding each other, and if you have to read through a mile long series of open quotes, I feel like perhaps some of that understanding and clarity might get compromised a teeny bit.

Thank you for considering this humble, if not somewhat obnoxious request, but I feel it's kinda of important for the health and hygiene of these forums and it's probably helpful to people and pets in general.

Thank you and have a great day if that's at all possible considering this janky-ass software is probably making your collective IT lives a living hell.

What do you mean there are no more bi weekly freebies. They were never weekly, except in special circumstances

That, and the ability for multi-quotes that are used in modern, forum formats; it seems as though these forums are based on a bare-bones featureless template... and for the love of god can we fix the bloody auto-log-off bug already!?

Plus remove the empty spaces above and below a paragraph - You know, Keep It Simple...

I'm just calling it what they call it...

Because it would just be soooo much trouble to remove the word "Weekly". This one problem sums up so much of what I find problematic about this site. It's what makes me second-guess reccommending the store to others because I'm afraid such nonsense will reflect poorly on ME. My rep isn't much, but it's the only one I've got!

...agreed, having to cobble these together adding one quote at a time is tedious.

Also don't like the fact that when you quote someone, it opens the edit window on it's own page which makes multi quoting even more difficult as you have to post, then open the edit window again and paste in the next quote then post. again, and again and again.

Finally get a decent spell check routine as the options it often gives seem to not take into account many common typos such as "teh" for "the" and "wehn" for "when".

Yeah, it's really irritating that I have to copy one quote, then go back a page, and quote someone else and paste the original quote along with the second one, and more often or not, I have to re-format the original quote in the "quote" format! It's such an idiotic waste of time!

As far as spell check is concerned I found that I have to first have to apply the source format in order to use the spell check, which is idiotic as well; so I bypass that useless spell check and just use Grammarly!

I think I'm just going to fake the quote thing...

You make lots of sense McGyver, in fact I agree this whole thing is an unnecessary abomination being perpetrated against us by our Illuminati Penguin overlords... Thank you for bringing this situation to the attention of the general public.

    That looks convincing?... right?

    Maybe?

It does, except the username has to link to the person's profile. wink Well, except for the baked-in italics...

    MrSoggyBottom1972 didn't say:

    This probably looks more convincing!

I'm just quoting myself there... but it's probably a lot quicker to use a qoute from a short post, erase that and then copy and paste the relevant quote below.
