millennium gorilla

Has anyone any experience with this product: https://www.daz3d.com/millennium-gorilla

I think it is stand-alone (i.e. it is not an add-on to another figure) - is that correct? (I don't want to buy it & then find I have to buy something else to get it working).

It is derived from the Michael 1/2 mesh, as I recall (might be Michael 3) but is a stand-alone figure. It doesn't have Daz Studio materials at all so you are likely to need to do some tweaking; it also uses old-style parametric rigging rather than weight-mapping which again has its limitations. I haven't used it for a while, but it was certainly well done for its time.

There is an inexpensive pose set available for it as well.

I prefer any of the more modern gorillas, there's one for Genesis, there are even a couple for Genesis 8. Benefits here are you can have them wearing clothing too, etc. And fur.

The gorilla is (c)2002 and has an M2-style body map layout. M3 is (c)2003.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I will now wait for an offer to arrive & then buy it. (Interestingly it currently has a "-50%" offer on the interactive licence, "reducing" the cost from $10 to $15 - what a bargain!).
