If it's an NVIDIA card there should be a control panel applet called NVIDIA Control Panel that will let you set the default card to use as well as the card to use for specific applications. I assume there's something similar for ATI cards and for Macs.

FYI, you get your updates through an app called GeForce Experience

    hi guys,

    thanks for your replies

i found the nvidia control panel, but the only place where i seem to be able to choose the card is under a heading called "configure surround, PhysX", and there, under PhyxS settings, it recommends automatic selection, and that has chosen the cheap card

i could change this, but i'm not even sure if physX, whatever it is, is relevant for Daz?

    edit:
ah, and i also found a panel to manage 3D settings, where i can select programs and then set settings for that program (oi added DAZ there, and then there's all kind of settings, like antialisaing, buffering, energy, CUDA-GPU's... where i can set things. one of them is CUDA - GPU's, where i can choose which GPU to choose. is this it? it's currently set as "use global settings", which means it uses both cards. Should it just use the good one?

    thanks

Set it to use the NVIDIA card -- the global setting can be NVIDIA, integrated, or Auto Select, so if that's set to NVIDIA it doesn't matter.
