I thought it would be interesting to start a thread and update it whenever I feel I have done a render that doesn't totally suck. I just finished this first render. I did the postwork in GIMP. It's still very basic. My biggest focus was on working on posing, and elements in the background. I would love any feedback that you would like to offer.

Here is another render that I had fun with. Again, it was an attempt at posing and making a stylistic choice. I chose to have the things in the background blacked out in a noir-ish kind of way. Postwork in GIMP here too.
This was actually my first attempt at postwork. I took the background picture from Google. I wasn't really meaning to share it, but I thought I'd put it here anyway. I added the lights on the vessel in GIMP as well as the look of it being partially covered in clouds.
This was my first attempt at a 3 point light setup that I did along with this awesome tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYSMUd39TeE . I also experimented with trying to make a person of color, but it didn't turn out looking very real. I'll be upgrading shortly to a dark skin pack. I'm thinking Kerryann from Ethnique.
