DForce Roxi Hair looks weird in Iray preview, but renders fine - why?

At first I thought the product was broken, until I actually clicked the Render button.  laugh

In the preview it's all super wispy and thin, even with the Iray engine.  However it renders fine with Iray.  There's no Sub Division, the Mesh Resolution is base so it's not that.  So - why?
Not a "it's broken" thread, but a genuine curiosity thread. smiley

It's dForce strand-based hair, I believe, so the preview gets (by default) less geometry for performance reasons. There are settings on the actual hair that you can adjust.

OK, that must be it.  It is strand-based hair.  Thanks for the info, good to know that can be adjusted if necessary.

Yeah, I hate this as well, it takes forever to get the hair posed. I tend to avoid these types of hair simply because of the amount of time I spend doing spot renders to see how it is actually going to look.

I also don't think the result looks very good, or realistic. The end result looks like someone painted the hair in photoshop.

Yeah, I just bought it and it is just too difficult to work with. Not neccessarily anything against the vendor but this strand base stuff is a pain.
