What should I use the Gallery for?

TLDR; What is the intent of the Gallery? Best I can tell is that I can make personal folders within the Gallery that are private and anything I want to go to the public Gallery, I need to request to be published? Does publishing give me a URL I can use to post pictures in the body of messages? Is it intended to be for the "good stuff"?

I use it to post images that someone else might be interested in. I try to put my best work in the gallery, but that is not a requirement. My gallery here is very simple, but you can use it to categorize your renders/images to make it easier for others to view/find.

I also use it to gage how well received my images are, and if I'm getting better, staying the same, or completely lost touch with what people might like to see (subjectively base on the number of likes). Don't get discouraged if you don't get many, or even any, likes to start with. Gallery viewers have certain styles and expectations on what they like to see. Just spend time comparing your images to those that are popular,  and you will begin to see the differences and hopefully learn how to improve.  I'm not much of an artist, so it's quite difficult for me to improve compared to the top artists in the gallery ..... but I still try and have fun in the process.

Once published the image can be seen by others, unbtil then only you and the gallery mods can see it. After a while publishing will be automatic.

I really appreciate the gallery. Before my machine began overheating too much to safely render, I put a few images in the gallery to gauge how my 'humor' would be received.
For a couple of decades I've created funny greeting cards for family and friends, and they usually generated quite a bit of back-and-forth humor between us all. It's a whole nuther thing here.

The big lesson was that much of what people see as funny may be based to some extent on who they think is presenting it. If they don't know the person, they can't incorporate his/her personality into the humor of the image.
I guess it's a weakness I've had which I never realized was there. But I'm really glad I found out before I dived too much into that sort of thing. It might have saved some embarrassment, because frankly, most of my stuff is just corny slapstick.
I'm collecting products and tutorials now on how to produce magical/mystical images. Been getting some requests for book covers along those lines.
So in short, the gallery became absolutely valuable to me right from the start...
Tho, the 'comic' in me still fights to express himself!
