Now the way they have you download it in this site is by using an Instal Manager that first downloads the file and puts it who knows where in your computer and then it installs it. But you don't have a physical ZIP file that you can see like a DAZSTUDIO47.zip

So how do i back it up to my external disk or whatever for backup?

The default download location for the zips is C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads (you can change it in Settings > Downloads). The zip for DS4.7 is named IM00013176-02_DAZStudio47Win64bit.zip for the 64-bit Windows version.

I'm on mac and there's no such thing. WE also have a Documents directory but mine has
DOcuments/DAZ3D/Studio/My Library and Render Library folders

The Applications folder has a DAZ3DIM1 folder and all it has is a cms folder with an installer called DAZContentManagementService
and thenDAZ3DIM application and then a folder called "service' and a folder called Uninstallers.

    Ohhh I found it.

The zip file is under Mac HD/ Users/Shared/DAZ 3D/instllManager/Downloads/

Nice. I wonder why my installation was made under Shared folder.

But it's weird. How would i reinstall DAZ 4.7 because in that Downloads folder i have a bunch of files like
    Dazstudio47Mac64bit.zip and then DAZstudio47Mac64bit.dsx

If i open the zip file, will there be an installer? And what the heck is this DSX file.

And then also in that Downloads folder i have SceneBuilderforDAZStudio.zip and the DSX

    and genesis2FemaleStarterEsserntials.zip and the DSX

    and so on.

It's not just like 1 file to click and get an installer.

If you want a stand-alone installer you can download that from your Product Library.

The .dsx file that goes with each .zip has information like whether the item is software/plugin/content, which software it is used with, etc.

The zip I mentioned is the main application; there are also zips for some plugins, like GoZ, Photoshop Bridge, etc.

The content is in separate zips: "Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio" has lights and shaders; Genesis Starter Essentials/Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials/Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials has the figures, clothing , hair, and so forth.

To reinstall, just go to the Installed tab in DIM and click Uninstall, then the item will reappear in Ready to Install (if the zip is still in the downloads folder) or in Ready To Download (if it isn't).
