Scars that won't darken a pale face

in The Commons
I'm working on a Gen 8 dude with super pale (undead type gray-whiteish) skin. I need to put some scars on his face but the L.I.E scars I bought darken his face terribly. I apply one tiny scar and he looks like he stuck his face behind an exhaust pipe that gave him a blast.
Are there any scars I can use on him that won't adjust his skin tone?

That sounds like the layered image covers the whole face.
I would take that into an image processing program and mask out only the scar, and save that as a new image and use that.
To add: you could also instead use the mask as a mask in LIE
That sounds interesting but I'm not sure what you mean. Do you know of a resource where I could learn about that?
Which scar product are you using?
You can use an opacity map on the LIE to make it so it only shows the area of the scar itself. However, I would have assumed that whatever scar package you bought already does this. It could be an error in either how the LIE is applied or something.
One other possibility is if this is an older product that was released for previous versions of Daz and Iray, and whatever changes to Iray since then have altered how it looks. Genesis 8 has been around long enough to see Iray through several big changes. How translucency works has been altered, Dual Lobe specularity was added. Normal map handling has been tweaked, and Chromatic SSS has been added.
There are many ways to do scars. They could be done with geometry shells, Iray decals, LIE, or baked into the character textures.
