DForce explodes on me - not during simulation but during rendering

This is how my scene looks like in OpenGL.
The dress is dForce and simulated without problems:

 

IRAY preview mode. Still no problems:

 

I click render and I get this:

    I supose it might be runaway dispalcement, which by default doesn't show in the Iray Drawstyle, other than that I don't know (though I do think someone else had a similar issue).

    Made it go away by changing the subD of the female character from 3 to 2.

    Still don´t really understand it, though.

    I thought displacement doesn´t interact with dForce?

    Do, but the issue as I understand it is post dForce - what gets sent to Iray is just a static mesh.
