Daz Connect Library SOLVED

When I am testing clothes, characters, hair, shoes, Genesis 3F, Genesis 3M, Genesis 8F and Genesis 8M, I have all those characters shapes in the shaping tab, which makes it difficult to test.

All I want to see in the shaping tab are, for example, Victoria 8, Darcy 8, The Girl 8... but with all the other character shapes in the shaping tab, it makes it very difficult.

I have all the above and of course more in a * tester * folder so that they do not get mixed up.

When I am testing I unhook all other libraries that I usually use and have only the * tester * folder hooked to Daz studio.

My question is, can I unhook the Daz connect folder?

If it was not sometimes needed I would get rid of the smart content, but when I did that in the past some characters did not work as they should, like materials, lip textures...

So, can I unhook the Daz connect folder, and, could I hook it back up to Daz studio again once I finished testing?

You can create separate Content Directory Sets in the Content Dierctory Manager, each with its own database. Once you have them set up you can just switch between them by selecting them in Content Directory Manager, at which point they will become the current set. Do make a copy of your existing set before you start adding new sets, however (so that it has a named entry in the dialogue box).

Thank you for your reply, but I have no idea how to do that? :(

Edit>Preferences>Content tab, click the Content Diectory manager button (not sure how you were editing paths, my apologies if you are already in that dialogue).

If you select the Current set you can use the buttons on the elft to make a named copy of it, then you can use the same buttons to make a new set and add the various directories to that. Make that set active bu checking its radio button and closing the dialogue; you will now have no content and can just install the stuff you want (using DS to do so is simplest as you don't need to fiddle with the DIM locations).

When done testing just open Content Directory Manager again and select your original set of directories. You can switch between them at any time (but be wary of switching while you have content that is available in only ones et loaded).

Thank you so much, Richard, that is very helpful and I will do that.

I have just tried your suggestion but the Daz Connect folder is still there and that is the one that I need to be gone.

You need to nuke the Connect installs.  Install with DIM and you can install to different libraries which you can switch in and out through Content Directory Manager.

Not sure what I am going to do, but it makes testing pain in the backside. sigh

I also do not like to install with DIM because I always install manually and have customised my Library.

If all else fails, I guess I might need to nuke the Connect installs.

The thing is though, some content does not work as it should when not installed with Daz Connect.

The Daz Connect folder is a composite of all the individual /data/cloud/SKU folders that Connect uses - you can't get rid of it, but if you chnage the content directory settings it can be empty (though as I said it's less fiddle to handle distinct directory sets if at least one of them uses Connect to install) or point to different locations for different sets.

Richard you mentioned that separate content sets have separate databases. Does that mean that I could create a new content set, change DIM directory settings, tell DIM to reinstall all installed products to the currently selected library, and essentially have an empty Daz Connect folder? Then I could use DIM to install products previously installed by Daz Connect, and be rid of DAZ connect, as long as I never log in?

So I tried what Richard said and it just does not work, I can get rid of Daz Connect.

How can I get rid of it for good?

Can I just go C:// Programs/ User/ My name / AppData / Roaming and get rid of the CMS folder?

I really need it gone as testing is difficult with this hanging there.

I have DIM but never really use it to install anything, just updates.

Yes, I think so if I am following (but you could do much the same with a database reset and deleting the actual data/cloud/folder)

What do you mean by get rid of? The empty container will, as far as I know, always be there even if it has no content.

I tried it your way, but the folder is never empty.

I still see all those shapes and morphs in the Shaping tab which I do not want.

Right now I am very confused about what to do.

Someone said to * nuke * I believe it means to get rid of it, but I have no clue how to do that.

I do not need it :(

That sounds much easier and more straightforward.

Post a screenshot of your Content Directory Manager. I'm guessing you created a  new  content library folder in the same content set, instead of creating a new content set.

I have it all sorted now.

Nuke it as in delete everything under its "data" folder.  You can get rid of the Connect directory entirely as Studio will always recreate it.  I have never tried this so don't know if it wold work.  Plug a USB stick in and set the Connect directory path to it.  Pull the USB and Connect will be pointing to drive that doesn't exist.

    Thank you :)

What I did was to go to C:/ Program files/ User Name/ AppData/ Roaming and deleted the Daz 3D folder and also the Daz 3d folder in * I think * program files.

I then uninstalled Daz Studio and made a fresh and clean install.

Had to reinstall DIM too, but now and have no Daz Connect folder and do not use Smart content * which I never used anyways.
