Glass Gambit missing file issue?
I bought the glass gambit chess set some time back and was starting a scene which has it as the center piece of the action ( a basic chess game). So the props work, but I can't seem to get the glass effect. Based on the pdf, theres a 3D prop that needs to be used to get it, but I seem to be missing the necessary file. I installed it through daz central and I got the content via the DAZ store so idk why I am missing it. All I am getting currently for every material and shader is the base material ( so white for white peices and white with gold trim for the black ones- everything opaque); the colors and effect does not change with light nor anything else. Selecting the 360 prop that gives the glass effect causes the render to go pitch black and the missing file prompt. Any help/ suggestions on what to do to fix this issue? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the file a few different times.

That's an important file to be missing. I would suggest going to your Product Library and manually downloading the zip folder. Unzip it and see if the file is in there. If it is, copy the contents to where they should be. If it is not in there, a Customer Support Ticket is the way to notify the company that the uvmap data is missing. Then it's between them and the PA to get a fix to up-date the product.
In the meantime, it won't be the same, but what is required is the uvmap. You can make another uvmap using a modeler [like Hexagon or Blender or UVMapper or whatever] and then select it on the Surfaces Tab. [be sure to 'save' the new uvmap before saving any materials made using it].
So I checked the file location for the error and the file is already there. I copyed the contents of an unzipped copy into the location, but the issue is still there. Should I send Daz a Customer support ticket?
Sounds like you are doing an Iray render? That set was for 3Delight and may have special shaders that only work with 3Delight. The 360 prop you mention is probably blocking the light too, hence the black renders. (I don't have the product so I can't with diagnosing the missing file error)
I am using IRay. I didn't see 3Delight anywhere on the product page nor in the product pdf, but the missing file error occurs even in filament and other modes before rendering ever takes place so I doubt thats the main issue.
The chess set has SKU:17961, which is well before Iray was introduced - on these older products the render engine was not mentioned becaus there was only (effectively) one in Daz Studio. Try a 3Delight render and see if that helps with the appearance of the chess pieces - although like you I don't see that the missing file error would go away.
ETA: I just looked at the product ReadMe and it seems that the file is installed here:
/data/Arty_Doc/Glass Chess Set/360 Reflection/UV Sets/Glass Chess Set/Base/default.dsf
Is this where you found it? If so then the load preset for the 360 prop seems to have a typo in it. You'll need to raise a support ticket to get it fixed.
If it's the shape of the pieces you particularly like, you could try the advice here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/898959/#Comment_898959
It explains how you can apply Iray shaders to the chess pieces to get a glassy effect in an Iray render.
I tried a 3Delight render and still have the issue. That is the location for the file for me. Thank you all for the help! I will raise a support ticket for this issue
