Daz3d.com Privacy Policy

Here's a screencap of what Chrome displayed when I launched it this morning (google.com):
Has DAZ changed its policy of not sharing information with other websites?

Nothing this site does surprises me anymore. Nothing. And I don't mean that in a good way. So, for now, I'm buying stuff that I really wanted, stuff in my wishlist during this sale and then I'm gonna put the whole place behind me. It's no longer worth my time, loyalty or money.
Not saying it couldn't happen, but that is probably coming from Google, are you using Google as your search engine? Could also be your ISP sharing your DNS queries.
You may want to add edn.persosa.com to your block domain list. That is a tracker that Daz is now using.

Congratulations on your kneejerk reaction.

It works locally on your own device. But don't let that stop you from kneejerking.
It was a question lol.

It's also a sign there's been enough shenanigans from Daz of late that the safe assumption was Daz was trying to sell us more stuff in a sloppy way
Well could it be customers have been conditioned to behave this way?
So I just read the link you posted, but fail to see how the mechanism (local cookies) being used to share information with Google makes any difference. The cookies could be encrypted, but DAZ is actively choosing not to do so, which is how DAZ is sharing our information with Google/Chrome.
Is there information anywhere about exactly what cookies DAZ writes, and what information they contain? Are any of them encrypted?
- Greg
According to Google nothing is being shared - the data is purely on your machine, based on the browser's history.
Since it is going to be tricky to separate the personal comments from the comments on the topic we are leaving this thread as-is but reminding people to be civil in their dealing with each other.
Not sure how whether or not my cart at daz3d.com is empty or not is stored in my browser history - I'll file a ticket and actually ask DAZ.

Since when has Google asked permission to scrape websites and phones, whether it be your client browser or a 3rd party website like DAZ 3D?
Google has the magic tentacles when it comes to manipulating the web. They operate the most important search engine and large portions of the infrastructure that make the web function. In important ways, they dictate how the web goes. The best you can do is try to minimize their influence, and even that is likely not that effective. Even if you could somehow nullify Google, you still have Amazon, Facebook and others slurping up every byte of data they can swallow. You can and should minimize your exposure, but you can't win the rigged game.
After I read the entries here, I opened a new window in my Google Chrome browser on my iMac and found the little cart thing, but also 3 dots in a verticle line, see my screen shot. There appears to be an easy fix to disable this.
I do appreciate the heads up on it from a forum member.
If you really are concerned about Google, the most obvious steps include disabling or getting rid of Chrome, Edge, and any other browser that uses Google's core browser technology. You might also consider using non-google search engines.
I don't trust Google any further than I can throw a piano. And that's why I'd rather eat glass than use Chrome. There are really good alternatives; nobody depends on Google's search engine or Google Chrome.
I won't be able to prevent burglars. But I don't need to hand them the house keys, too.
Roger that!
I second this. I've been an avid Chrome supporter since it's inception but many creepy things happening this year in particular with leftover cookies even when cookies are manually wiped had me reconsider my decision and start using a different browser as of lately. They most definitely have more than a few things to iron up to regain their trust with Chrome users.

Sometimes I would get ads for things that I didn't remember typing. Maybe it's my imagination, but consider this: if you have an Alexa or another voice-activated device (I used to have two), they have to be constantly listening in order to hear you. They also have to analyze those recordings, to screen for those words. So the data is already there. And how tempted would a company be to use that data? They say they don't, but it wouldn't be the first time corporations have lied. I turned off the "Hey Google" feature on my phone and gave my husband the echo for his alarm clock, and it hasn't happened in a while. Of course, maybe I have just been more alert lately. Also, I switched to Duck Duck Go.
I'm sick of google news ruining the shows I watch with articles that have spoilers in the title, so maybe I will stop using Chrome as well.
I use Opera and OperaGX and Firefox. Bare in mind the opera browsers were built of the google platform, yet I don't get the amount of spamming Edge or Chrome has. I also take advantage of DuckDuckGo and AdBlockers
Good choice!
I use Safari on my iPad and Firefox on my PC and the only problem I had was with a certain brand of cat litter. I had once ordered it on Amazon and once on Chewy and after that I had ads for this cat litter all over the place, sometimes several separate ads for it on the same page. Somehow brands themselves must see your orders from various sources and then bombard you with ads.
