Anyone know the best mirror objects I can use?

Ones that actually works as intended and gives a reflection? Has anyone used this one linked below for instance? Does it actually work in Daz Studio like its supposed to work?

It's not difficult to make a mirror that works in Iray.

    For any surface:

    • Set Base Mixing to "PBR Specular/Glossiness"
    • Set the Glossy Specular colour to white (choosing a different colour will tint the mirror)

Leave everything else at their default values.

ADDED: Here's a shader preset to apply those properties to any surfasce.

I use the Metal - Aluminium -Polished shader supplied with Studio.

In the image below I simply used the chrome (recesses), copper (aperture frame) & gold (all other parts of the obalisk) metallic materials on the obalisk. Due to repeated self reflection inside the obalisk, I had to increase the raytrace path length in 'Render Settings' to 9 for all the visible area to be covered in reflections.

So, the standard metallic shaders in the DAZ Uber category work very well as mirror shaders when applied to any surface you want. No need to buy specific mirrors unless you like the shape & frame.

    Regards,

    Richard

smiley I got it working thanks..my next question to you is how do I get this effect shown below? Is it possible to make the figure in the reflection give a different pose to make it seem like its a different character?

That is editing in post. You make two scenes, one with each pose, then layer them in gimp or photoshop or whatever. Take one with the pose you want to show in the mirror, and put that under the other one. Then select just the top layer mirror area with the select tool (so you don't accidentally remove the other parts of the image) and cut or erase the image there, so that the bottom layer is revealed. If you kept camera angle, lighting, and everything else but the pose the same, they should blend pretty seamlessly.
