PostgreSQL Updates?

Every time I open my DIM app I see that there is a PostgreSQL update waiting. I always ignore them because I was under the impression that it is a once-only install and does not need to be installed with every DAZ Studio update. So far I am not aware of having had any difficulties resulting from not updating it but I am now wondering whether my assumption was wrong. I should note that I don't use Smart Content but I am pretty sure that CMS goes futher than that.

An update or an uninstalled version? Potentially you might have four - 32/64 bit, general release/public build - only one of which can be installed at any time
Yes sure ... at the moment I have a Beta version in the Updates section of DIM but, as I say, I have not updated PostgreSQL for years.
The second isn't a PostgreSQL version, it's a coinverter for the old Valentina database. As for the second, is that the version of PostgreSQL you have installed\?
As I said - I have not updated or installed a version for (at least 5) years. How do I find out what version I have installed? According to DIM, the Package date is 9/05/2014.
Type postgresql into the filter box (top-right) in DIM and see what is listed in each tab.
Yeah, that's how I found the date of the installed package. All I really need to know is whether it needs updating?
So is the installed version the same bit architecture and release channel as the one showing an update? I don't think there is a current update for any of the PostgreSQLs so it seems unlikely it's really changed.
OK, yes, they both say version 9.3.4 and 64bit.
And both Public Build?
The one in the downloads section of DIM is a Beta but still 9.3.4 so I think they must include the package with every update.
