Using clothing from the kids 4 on g8f

So I have a child model for g8f and I want to use a dress for the kids 4 on her is there any way at all i could do this? Currently using the auto fit it makes the dress tiny and under her.

There is no commercial K4 clone available for G8F. If you can get the K4 shape onto G8F using a combination of Gen X and XTransfer you can make your own clone, otherwise the easiest option is to autofit to Genesis (which does have a K4 clone), and then autofit that to G8F using the Genesis clone built into G8F.

Autofit can distort the clothing item, particularly the front part of dresses, and autofitting twice will no doubt make the issue worse, so the final result may not be perfect.

An alternative solution is to use an app like Crossdresser to convert the K4 dress to one for V4 and then use something like https://www.daz3d.com/rssy-clothing-converter-from-victoria-4-to-genesis-8-female to get that onto G8F. That might give a better conversion, but this is not guaranteed.

I think the K4 clone for Genesis was a Christmas gift back in the day ...  update: Checked the download and yes, it is available to all :-) So technically speaking one could work it up the chain to make a K4clone for G8F.

The clothing geometry could be imported into D/S, resize it to better fit on G8F - then hide G8F and export out the .obj with no groups, I would use Carrara settings. Delete the outfit's geometry. Import back in the recently made .obj ... it has to be landing on G8F precisely where it's wanted. Select it and run the Transfer Utility tool. G8F is the donor and the clothing is the target. If it looks like a keeper, then select it and save it as a Figure/prop file.

If it loses the uvmap - then before making clothing with it, send it over to a modeler like Blender or something and make a new uvmap. The .obj with the new uvmap is the one to then import into D/S and make a clothing file with.

Genesis 1 came with an auto-fit clone for K4. I would suggest fitting it to G1 then G2 then G8, it's a bit round about, but it should work OK.

There is a product that fits K4 clothes to G3, it is an extension to "Wear Them All"

I had this, and it works quite well for most of the K4 clothes. It only failed with long dresses, as so often happens, so I has to return it, because it was mainly for a few K4 dress conversions that I'd bought it. Tech support couldn't get it to convert the long dresses without distortions either. But otherwise I think it worked just fine, and if you're looking to convert a knee-length dress or shorter, you should be okay.

That works, I've done it on a few K4 outfits.

Do the autofit path which will likely distort it.   But if that doesn't quite work well enough for you, then...

Then take the original clothing and shape it to the G8 child figure.  Export those clothes as a mesh, and import it as a shape morph (without distortion) on the G8 autofit version of the clothing.  [This is one of the recommended paths for dealing with extreme morphs within the same figure.  i.e. this is what FBM clothing fits are.]
