Help - Daz crashing on Surface Pro 7

Hi one and all,
I have a fresh install of Daz3d on my new Surafce Pro 7, trouble is that whenever I try to do any work with Genesis 8/8.1 it crashes somewhat randomly.
So after trying to solve why (and failing) I've noticed that if you load, delete, load, delete and then load Genesis 8.1 female (so three times in a row) it crashes on the third load everytime.
Is there a way to fix this? Or do I really have to switch back to Poser?

When you delete, are you just deleting or are you making a new scene? If just deleting the character, you might try "New scene" instead as I believe it does a better job of clearing the memory

I only deleted and reloaded the model without starting a new scene to try and find a common cause as to what's making it crash.
With a new scene it still randomly crashes as i'm working on it.
I never had this problem on my Mac (pre-Big Sur) and then the Big Sur update meant I had to use Parallels, of which I still never had any problems..
Ah, I see; like you, I haven't had any issues with crashing on my Mac, nor with running the Windows version operating under VM Fusion, other than the Render issue (if you hit Command/Control-R to render, DAZ Studio almost always crashes after the second or third render -- thanks again Richard Haseltine for saving my sanity).
I'm afraid I can't offer any other suggestions, hopefully a person more knowledgeable about the Windows version and/or the Surface Pro may be able to offer you a solution.
You might want to change the title to something more informational, like "Help -- DAZ crashing on Surface Pro" to alert people what it's about.

Which version of the Surface Pro do you have? Just looking at the specs online, it might just running out of memory thus DS crashes.

OpenGL enabled graphics card or chipset required for hardware accelerated preview.
24-bit color display, 1440 x 900 minimum resolution.
3 GB free hard disk space (20 GB required to install all included content).
DVD-ROM drive (physical DVD product only).
USB drive (physical USB product only)
Internet connection for updates and required online activation.
CUDA and Optix enabled device recommended for hardware accelerated final rendering (2 GB RAM minimum, Compute Capability 5.0 minimum).
Optix-accelerated raytracing requires Nvidia RTX or Turing GPU, or newer.
Latest ZBrush required for GoZ interoperability.
That tablet won't run Poser.
Going to be an interesting experiment to see if you can get Studio to run though.Even if you did renders would take days.None the less would still be quite the accomplishment.
Based only on the clock speed of the processor? The OP's computer more than meets all the other requirements, and the minimum recommended processor is a Core 2, while the OP has an i7.
the intel graphics means no GPU acceleration, so it's CPU only for that setup.At 1.5Ghz it's going to be slow going to render anything.
Yes, the CPU clock speed.Being under the minimum just to run the program and still needing more cycles to run everything else doesn't bode well for success.
Slower rendering for sure, but I don't think it should be crashing with a single character loaded. I have a MacBook Air running Windows 10 with my RAM shared down to 8 gigabytes and I'm able to render multiple characters and a room scene using Filament without issue; my processor is a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel i7, and no GPU but no problems.

I do hope to see this work.I'd love to be able to run Studio on a relatively inexpensive tablet.Then I'd be able to work on my projects when I'm waiting hours at the docks/markets to be unloaded.
I don't have one at the moment to work out how to do that, so this thread is of much interest to me.
Moving my full size $3k rendering PC from truck to truck as I get reassigned to different jobs and different trucks is really not an option.Carrying a small tablet that can do some of the same job would be though.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 mobile phone.I can kill the battery on it in about 3 hours just playing solitaire and reading websites when not tethered to the charger. Hopefully the tablet's battery would last the same time and still allow for a few preview renders that would draw in a reasonable amount of time.
I've been running DS, C4D and Houdini on a Surface Pro 5. I could get nearly a full day of work done on it when I first got it, but the battery life definitely withered over time. It was refurbished, which may have been a factor.
Sounds great, to be able to work for a bit here and there on your project and do the rendering on your main machine, a perfect balance. I purchased a MacBook Air for the same reason; I work 8-10 hour days most days (and occasionally longer) and after that I enjoy working on my personal projects but some days, the very last place I want to do it is in front of the same computer and screen where I just spent 10 hours working. I needed a little disconnect between work and D|S. I had looked at a Surface Pro as well (a tablet opens up a few possibilities that a laptop doesn't), and some of the models looked more than capable (not for i/ray, of course, but I'm doing more toon work than photorealism, and don't need iRay).
