How to do a clean install?

in The Commons
Hoping someone has done this and can point me in the right direction.
I tried to start organizing all my content before I really new what I was doing, and ended up deleting the Default category where all the other categories go. I thought that deleting and re-installing DS and DIM, and re-installing my content would allow me to go back to square one. It did not. Across a re-install, DS remembered my deleted categories. And now some content even says it can't find certain files, so I think the new install is corrupt, for some reason.
How does one actually wipe everything and start over?

Look for all your paths and wipe them. You also need to uninstall DIM/CENTRAL.
Also, daz uses a postgres database. See that that is uninstalled before doing a new install and just to be sure rename/delete the folder for said database, i think default is something like this:
C:\Users\YOURWINDOWSUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\cms

Thanks! I will try both methods. Both sound promising.
Tried re-importing the metadata, and it didn't work.
There was no option to uninstall Daz Studio, so I literally told DIM to uninstall everything, and deleted the entire Daz directory under AppData. I re-installed just Daz Studio, and it seemsed to reconstruct the categories. Now I'm just letting it re-install assets as needed, to load the chracters I need.
But it still "remembered" the directories to my rendo and renderhub content in the Content Library tab, which does not give me a good feeling.
It is also complaining about some rendo files it can't find, starting with "runtime/textures/" which are in the remembered directories it listed. I'll see if I can figure that one out, but damn, this application is a mess.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.
OK, that was some windows wierdness, as opposed to Daz wierdness.
I have all my thrid party assets stored on a NAS device. All of a sudden, and for no apparent reason, Windows stopped seeing certain directories. Not all, just some. I access the NAS from my Linux box, and everything is fine. I reboot the Windows box, remap the network drives, and now everything works. All's well that ends well, but now it's not just Daz trying to drive me crazy, but Windows, too.
In any case, it looks like I'm back in business, so thanks, guys.
