Daz can't find Hivewire horse

SummerhorseSummerhorse Posts: 684

I downloaded the Hivewire Horse from CWRW and textures because it has coat colors I can't find for Horse 2. I unzipped it's files and put them in the folder Libraries-Documents-My Daz 3D Library -where the Dragon and horse 2 folders are. When I open Studio, I can find the Hive horse folder in my Content Library- but clicking on it does nothing...

Have I installed it to the wrong place? Any suggestions welcomed!

What is the full path and file extension of the file you're clicking on?

You say from CWRW -- those are probably textures for the horse. Did you install the horse itself?

Where in your Content Library? Poser files can not be seen in the DAZ Studio Formats section, and D|S files can not be seen in the Poser Formats section. "Empty" folders that definitely have files in them are usually a sign that the files are in the wrong type of content location.

How are the files arranged in the Hivewire installer — when you unzip, are the .cr2 and .duf files in the same folder in the Runtime/Libraries/Character folder, or is the .duf file somewhere outside the Runtime folder?

The HW3D horse has separate DS and Poser version. The DS version is located in the DS content structure under Animals\HiveWireHorse, not in the Runtime folder.
I don't have CWRW textures for it but their poses are installed in the same structure as the horse, so it's probably the same for materials.

    Thank you for your replies!

Yes, I did download the horse itself. The path was : Users/public/documents/myDaz 3 D Library/Runtime/Libraries/Character.

I'm sorry- I do not know how to tell if the Cr2 and Duff are together- they are not labled the way my Daz downloads are... It has 5 folders though, and I put them all in the same place.

I know people buy third party content all the time- so I feel like a total idiot not being able to figure this out, but I'm going to have a friend check this out this weekend and read your comments. Can you tell me the path it 'should be' on?

And thank you so much for your help!

If it is in /Runtime/Libraries/Character you have installed the Poser version of the horse, not the DS version. The Poser version will not work properly in DS as it uses Poser weight mapping (you will have problems when you pose it), so you should install the DS version.
In my HW3D downloads I have 3 files for the horse: the Poser version, the DS version, and the textures which work for both.

It's actually rather easy to install content from HW3D: take all the folders which are in the zip (for the DS version of the horse you'll have Animals, data, Runtime...) and just put those into Users/public/documents/My Daz 3D Library, so that "Runtime" and "data" folders get merged with the ones you already have there.

I have all the breeds for the horse they should be located in animals under the horse folder for DS. Just noticed that some of the breeds are under Hivewire 3D animals instead of Hivewire Horse. I don't normally use the ds runtime just categories so haven't noticed that before.

Just a heads up...Mane controls and fetlocks should be in the horse under parameters.
