The thing that worries me about the looooong delay of DS 5 is the lack of support for 4K monitors with DS 4.  Technology is marching on, and I can't upgrade my monitor to new technology until DAZ Studio supports higher resolution. Non-scaling fonts and UI elements mean my display is frozen at 2560x1440, which works well, but I dream of trading two monitors for one big, 4k monitor.

What am I missing here? Seven years ago, I purchased two LG UC99-W 3840 x 1600 38" 4K Class 21:9 UltraWide® WQHD+ IPS Curved LED Monitors back in March of 2017, specifically for using with DAZ Studio. No problems here.

Ok, that's interesting!  It seems I had read multiple reports from folks here that the software didn't scale well to 4K and that fonts were unreadable unless the display magnification was set to 125% or larger

3840x1600 is not 4K - 4K is twice the width and height of 'Full HD' (1920x1080)

4K should be fine if one gets a big enough monitor, something like 40"-50"

Maybe there's no more we could ask for.

Fixes for the many bugs? Better animation tools? Integrated lipsynch? Better render engines? Support to multiple MP3 audio tracks? Improved support to video export? Native batch video and image sequence rendering?

It's really too much to ask?

Yes, that's... too much to ask for.

A modern realtime video game renderer would be a fantastic addition to Studio.

Have you put in any feature requests to have these things considered. Nothing will become of any of this in the forums.

A native Apple Silicon version would be great: a couple of crashs I have when I'm launching scripts seem linked to Daz Studio doing something Rosetta (the translation layer between x86 code and the ARM CPU) doesn't like.

I have no idea what it is (I don't speak the crash reports langage…), because the same scripts will launch perfectly fine a couple of minutes later (eventually after clearing cache, relaunching Daz Studio a couple of times), so not having to depend on Rosetta 2 would be great for that alone.

    Where can I do that?

Even if, honestly, this kind of stuff should be the natural evolving of the software.

Is any plugin developer here discuss an AI plugin as its supposedly out of scope for DAZ, despite the seemingly high value?

Please contact me for idea exchange.

What makes you think that? While Daz AI Studio was not linked to Daz Studio, that doesn't mean that future AI developments will not be DS tools or add-ons (I know no more than that and what they have said in the prior annoucements).

Close your browser before opening DAZ. There is something being used in common between the two that DAZ absolutely hates and will crash instantly.

it is fine on any 55 inch, as long as you use 300% scaling in Windows which is kinda necessary anyway considering optimal viewing distance.

I'm using two 50 inch 4K monitors running Win 11 and at 300% the desktop shortcut icons are almost the size of a playing card

Yesterday 4.22 crashed once more, and I lost the scene and a folder with files.

If you can fix this I'm fine.

Could you post either a picture of your setup or the specs/models of your monitors? That setup sounds insane.   :)

!!!! Do you turn the heating down in winter when your rig is fired up? It looks amazing. Regards, Richard.

Never turn the heat on here as there is only two seasons here in Harlingen and those are early summer and late summer.

System runs 24/7 and is liquid cooled and surprisingly doesn't put out a lot of heat.

What is that case - and is it one unit, or two stacked?

Anything new? Expected release date? Will it work natively with the new Macintosh M chips, and not in Rosetta 2?

  • TorquinoxTorquinox Posts: 3,305

Apparently, recent builds of DS4 are receiving some of the updates and features originally destined for DS5. I'm not concerned. It'll be along when it's ready. But then, I live in PC-land. I imagine Mac folks are hoping for more and faster. Daz plays most everything close to the vest, so I don;t expect we'll get official updates or release dates. Rather, we'll wake up one morning and it will be upon us.

I imagine that when there is news it will get a new thread.

Just a guess, but if one of the moderators or one of the PAs know something, they won't speak about it before Daz is giving them the authorization to do so.

  • Well, all of the updats since 4.20.x.x have been "working towards" DS 5 (or whatever the enxt major version is called) - but Daz has learned not to say anything until they are pretty much ready to say "here it is."

    "working"

Please, make this true for animation tools too... Without the quotation marks, possibly.  Or at least bring Animate, GraphMate and KeyMate to DAZ Studio 5 which are the only reliable tools.

The new graph is atrocious, those colossal buttons on the right covers the last keyframe and I have to stretch the whole pane down in order to reach them, making awkward work on the scene, I really can't figure why it can't do like GraphMate and zoom out a bit more to show those last frames.

KeyMate is the only way to copy-paste keyframes without freezing, deforming or crashes (reported so many times I can't even remember, still there).

AniMate is a good tool, even if I use that only for the "grabby constraint" actions but I guess other animators uses it a lot.

So, please, make DAZ Studio great again for animations, like it was before.

    Exactly.

As noted, a new thread would be made if a big update was in the works.

Size of icons is determined by ctrl+mousewheel up or down. You're welcome!
