how do i create a geoshell for only one part?

I want to create a geoshell for only gm8.1 legs. However the tutorial I found is a geoshell for the entire body.
I tried it already a while back and instead of just legs it covered the entire figure. Obviously this is not what I want.

It's all or nothing, but you can turn off parts you don't want. Select the shell in the scene tab, then go to Parameters -> Shell -> Visibility -> Surfaces and/or Face Groups.
Genesis 8.1 is one part. There is only one .dsf file for him. The eyelashes are another part. Since the geoshell shares the same parameters of the part it is based upon then you have not only the options identified by NorthOf45 but also surfaces options in the surface tabs, such as transparency maps, tiling and such.
