Hair with an extremely long braid?

I'm working on some fantasy art and I have a character I want to have a braid down past his knees. The only thing I can find is the Dragonbraid and add-ons, which isn't quite right. Does anybody know of another hair with that sort of length, but without all the ornaments?

    Maybe https://www.daz3d.com/neoindia-braid-for-genesis-2-female-s-and-genesis-3-female-s

Edit: Full disclosure, i don't actually own this hair, but I would guess the jewely bits can be hidden. Arki is good about that on their hairs.

...there is one from the gen4 days by April YSH that may work.  It would probably require being manually fitted to G8 but that would preserve the bones and morphs.

It has 16 bones just for the braid each which can be lengthened and adjusted.  It does take a bit of work but it is tne longest braid know of in the store.

  • Thank you, both of you! One of those should work.

..The Neolinda Braid looks like it would be a lot less work as it is already Genesis (G2/G3) compatible and longer.  Surprised I don't have that one.

The ornaments on Dragonbraid are actually separate pieces, so you can have just the braid without them. That said, it is V4 era, so it will be in the Poser runtime -- I have no idea if it has Smart Content metadata as I don't use that and only go through the Content Library.

Beyond that, it depends on the look you want

Also -- and this is terribly important -- all of the longer braids are designed for female characters, not male, so whatever braid you use, you Must NOT use autofit to put it onto your male character. All longer braids have special bones, and autofit will remove those by default.

Neoindia's braid is actually designed to be parented, so losing the bones may not be an issue -- it won't autofit -- but it is weirdly immobile at the very top. This also depends in part on the look you want.

Below are two renders. The first is Neoindia's braid parented to a G8M with Koryan hair -- Neoindia's hair base looks very strange on a male character, as the hairline is emphatically female. I wound up shrinking the braidtop segment with its scale slider to make it look a bit more like it was part f the actual hairpiece. The second, with braids at the end of the main braid, is Dragonbraid, with all the decorative bits either not added or turned off. In some ways, because it's later, Neoindia looks a bit better, but Dragonbraid may be slightly easier to work with. Depends on your preferences and what you need.

  • ... why did I not think of parenting the braid to a different hair?

Thanks vwrangler, that was very helpful.
