Copy/Paste no longer working in PMs or Forums?

Was not able to copy/paste into PMs or into forum posts, what's going on? If one right-clicks one gets a pop-up claiming security settings in our browsers prevent this. Since when?! I changed nothing in my Firefox browser to turn off copy/paste. So is this a site thing now?

is this the forum or Firefox.png

Just have to do it the hard way of Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V.
Yes, that's a new forum thing it seems. I haven't changed any settings either.

It may depend on what you paste though, the above line was pasted directly into the editor using ctrl+V
That does not work.
Nope, not working. I have to use the right-click and click on that tiny box that appears, then paste into that.
I don't appreciate this change ... thought the keyboard was borked.
.................
Checked over at some other sites where I post, and the copy/paste works fine there. So not my browser, keyboard works fine. Just at Daz3D.
I'm using opera, and the Ctrl C+V works just fine for me, even with my FF browser...
It looks like you get the box if you try to paste something in HTML format (where the hidden source potentially may contain malicious code), while plain text is OK to paste.
Ctrl+C/V works for me too on Chrome and Yandex
Ctrl+c/v works fine for me along with highlite and drag. I'm on Chrome
ctrl+c/v doesn't work for me, either.
Right click does bring up a menu with cut/copy/paste as options but only sometimes, strangely enough. Other times it brings up a different menu that has front/back/reload/etc.
I use apple and Firefox.
Same for me, it was last night that I noticed this. Was trying to copy/paste in a PM typing box and it wouldn't accept it. And then today I was trying to paste into a forum thread.
This Firefox is the up-to-date edition, 90.0.1 for whatever that's worth.
Will be putting in a ticket.
I have put in the ticket. They have a link to this thread. Now THAT typing box allowed me to simply paste the info in.
The inability to paste has nothing to do with html code [although that is a known situation for good reasons], I have tried several times with copying simple plain text and it's a no-go.
I always got the box to paste in, I didn't realise others didn't.
That explains why my links don't get that extra ; at the end many others do, because I need to use the link icon
Strange, I'm using the same version of Firefox and plain text pasting using Ctrl+V is working fine. This is on Windows 8.1 however, maybe it's a Windows 10 (or 7) thing.
I also get the "Paste box" if I try to paste with right-click pop-up menu, but Ctrl+V has always worked and pasted directly.
Edit; I'm using Windows 7 here at home.
Egaads, you never know. We just had W10 updates not all that long ago too.
Yeah... At work, where they threatened/bribed me to accept W10, it has been doing updates almost every day for the past two weeks, "interesting" (not) to see what it does tomorrow...
I just tested copy/paste using my iPad... so unless they fixed the problem, it's not a thing on iOS... which is unusual because iOS usually has more problems.
This is weird, if I copy info from notepad, that I could paste in here.
This is text first written in Notepad.
But now if I try to copy that same text in here and paste it, I get this " " [absolutely nothing]
This I can get when using the extra popup text box. This is text first written in Notepad.
This is silly. Using a text box to write into a text box. What will they think of next lol ...
If I click the Source button, I can paste (Ctrl V) into that.
That sounds like an update failing and retrying, or possibly being reversed (perhaps by the IT people) and reapplying, rather than frequent updates. Type Update history into the Windows logo menu/Cortana and you shold get an applet to show what is happening.
Yes, this works.
Yes, this works.
If you copy from an HTML page, like a forum page here, the clipboard copy includes the HTML source to preserve the formatting, so it's not the same as copying from Notepad which is plain text.
Then when you paste it back into the forum page it includes the HTML (or some of it), you just don't see it. I think it's that HTML that is causing it.
See attached screenshot, it's the last line from your text above, as it actually looks when copied from this page to the clipboard.
Is that ever strange. That doesn't show up even in source.
Okay. I just copied your text to Notepad, then copied from Notepad into here and it worked. I then deleted it of course ... but yes, I think you're onto something. However it's still something that was not an issue before noon yesterday.
edited to add: And I've tried this copying from the html page to pasting in a typing box at other sites, and no, the problem is just here.
Just have to do it the hard way of Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V. Just testing it still works in Firefox.
How are you getting those to work in Firefox? They don't work for me as of yesterday.
"How are you getting those to work in Firefox? They don't work for me as of yesterday."
I am on a Mac but it works fine for me ... Not that that helps. I think it is an older version.
Ctrl with C or V not working from text copied from html pages. BUT if you take that copy attempt and paste it into Notepad and then select and copy THAT text, THEN it will copy in here. So the forum website developers it would seem have made for an additional step to the workflow on how to post in here.
Firefox just came out with another update now, so will have to get that and check it too.
edit update 8/8/2021 CS did confirm that there are some known issues with regards to the site and the Firefox browser. The copy/paste problem is not a problem in the ME browser, etc. So until fixes can be made - be it by the company or by Firefox, them's the breaks.
