Chohole Memorial Postwacker Shillelagh

Initially I posted this in the Complaint Thread over at the commons, but I don't know if anyone noticed it there.


 

It's a simple Shillelagh of the kind and style used by our dear late moderator Chohole's avatar... It's mostly a guess as to the actual shape and length because the entire club is not visible, and the textures are meant to look sorta like the ones used in the image... the original prop is probably pretty old now, so I wasn't shooting for super accuracy, just a visual approximation.

The above image is what I was using as a reference... in case you aren't familiar with Chohole's avatar.

It's sculpted in Nomad Sculpt on my iPad, unwrapped and painted in 3D Coat, scaled and the textures slightly adjusted in Poser and DS.

A couple of things to be aware of... I didn't really have a lot of time to do a great job tweaking it for Poser or DS... it's kinda "as is"... for some reason when I added the PP2 to Studio's runtime, it won't load the texture, so I made a DUF prop file which seems to fix the problem on my copy of DS... 

If that all sucks, I've at least included the original OBJs and UV maps so you can load it that way... but it shows up pretty big... probably twice the size of an average figure... so you'll have to scale it and tweak the textures (3D coat made them super glossy for some reason, which they aren't when viewed there)... 

At some point it'll fix the files up better and make a proper presentation and upload it to my collection at ShareCG... I was thinking of a wooden base with brass holder arms like they make for antique rifles or hand weapons... it probably won't be for a while because I'm pretty busy for the next couple of weeks... but I figured I should put this out before I forget or get permanently distracted.

    Yeah, every now and again I'd make a dumb post I figured Chohole would get or maybe have a chuckle over... it's a bummer she's gone... and you see so many reminders throughout the forums too. 
    I hope she knew she was appreciated.
    She will be very missed.

    I don't think it was a Shillelagh it looks more like an ordinary wooden club.

    I don't see it either now. Was there last night. Could be a forum burp. That's why I've been putting more of my stuff over at sharecg.com, got tired of disappearing zips etc.

    It's showing up for me on my iPad, and I downloaded it twice to check the contents and it seems to all be there... maybe irs just a forum bug?

    Maybe try a different browser?

    Smarter brains than mine might know more.

    As far as the naming it "Shillelagh", that was something I used to call it went making jokes about it, but yeah, it's definitely more of a club, but "a Shillelagh whacking" sounds classier than "Club whacking".

    In my opinion... but I think a gorilla costume is an option for formal attire.

    Yeah it's the forum bug then. It's still not showing right now. I know on my posts, if I went to "edit" and then backed out of edit, the zips would reappear {usually}. Very finicky.

    Actually the data folder is missing from the download that I snagged last night BUT the .obj works just fine :-)

    I think Chohole would approve :-)

    Maybe you could reattach the zip for those who missed it 'cause it's still not showing. On one of my posts the other day an entire collection of attached photos went awol too. Had to reattach them.

    Ah!  I got the zip in just 2 seconds.  I knew something was out of kilter in the Universe.   Chohole was a fine people, made some great stuff for us, and often made a mess out of some of our posts.  I miss her and a LOT of folks these last few years.   Kinda sad to even own that it happens to all of us, in His good time.  But, it does, and that's that.   RIP lady Chohole!
