SO that i can use on other characters? But just the Values in the SUrface tab... Not the textures because i want the characters to keep their own textures.

    Hey there!

    Export it to what?

I think the SSS shader values from DS just won´t transfer to a completely different SSS shader in another application.

Or do you mean like save this preset in DS to apply it to other characters?

Yeah to apply it to other characters.
But without saving it with the specific textures of a certain character.

I read and tried something about that you have to first select a SINGLE surface and then you go to Save as Shader Preset , and when you do that you do get presented with a dialog box and then you can choose which from that sruface to export..

but this is not the entire figure's surfaces, it's just the single surface you selected. So that 's not what i want. I want to Save this preset fully for the entire body and like you said, to apply it to other characters.

I´ve never needed to save a custom shader but my guess would be this:

    - Once you have the values you want simply remove the textures

    - Save it as a shader preset

    - Now about applying the shader, since the figure has several surface groups ( face, ears, legs...so on ) that use the SSS shader you might have to apply it manually to each group and maybe even manually assign the character maps which sounds like a lot of manual work.

    BUT

if you go to the Surfaces tab and expand the Surfaces to see the list of all the surface groups, then select "Skin" just above the surface, all the areas of the body that are using the SSS shader will be highlighted.

So with the "Skin" selected I´d try applying the modified version of your SSS shader to it and it should probably apply to all body parts that use that shader.

You might still have to manually assign the textures (Diffuse, Bump,Specular...).

This is the step that I don't know how to make it work. Like i told you, to save as Shader preset you have to select a Single Surface. If you don't and try to save as SHader preset you g et an error telling you to select one .

So is there no way to save a preset for all the surfaces at once?

Why would you need a preset for all the surfaces?

I bet all the SSS surfaces use the same SSS values. The only difference between them are the maps.

So just select one surface without maps and save the SSS and then you can apply it to all the surfaces.

Ok I finally got it working :) Thanks for all your helps.
Now the only problem i got is that there's two opposite ends when using UberEnvironment(Subsurface).

    1. You want real glowy milky skin which looks real.. So you turn up the SUbsurface Strength and lower the Diffuse Strength. But in doing so you lose the texture detail, but it looks quite nice and real.
    OR
    2. You want detail of the skin textture preserved. So you tone down the subsurface strength a bit and up the Diffuse strength. In which case you get more detail but your render look more like the default plastic skin look.

I'm trying to get an inbetween so that i get both
    but it's kind of difficult.

    Glad it worked!

Feel free to post pictures of your experimenting with the shader! I´d love to see it! : )
