Gallery Name Updates

Because we've been having issues with duplicate usernames in the galleries, we've implemented a duplicate name test that will prevent users from changing their name to a username that is already in use.

Because there were already numerous duplicate names already in the system, we've allowed the first user who claimed that name to keep that name, and all other duplicate usernames were changed to "[original_name]_[gallery_id]" to make it unique.

If your gallery username was changed, feel free to change it to something more to your liking, but if the username you choose is already in use, you won't be able to use it.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Have you reported it?

    Have you reported it?

I reported that problem some time ago, ticket 181947. It's something to do with the javascript implementation, I think. If you get rid of the # sign from any URL in the gallery, the swirly goes away. The issue is browser and OS independent, as far as I can tell. Unfortunately, every link is programmed to do ... whatever it is that it's supposed to be doing with Javascript, so whenever you click on something else, the # sign comes back. It would be nice to know what it's programmed to do, since the site is perfectly functional without it.

After a few rounds of back and forth, the ticket was closed and "This request has been deemed solved" without anything actually happening, as far as I can tell. The eternal swirly still swirls for me, anyway.

    Let's stay on topic, please.

I'm sorry for the issues you're having with the galleries, but this is a post about usernames, not general gallery issues.
I would love to get your issues resolved, but this is not the place to report them. If you are having issues with the gallery itself, please submit a ticket for that issue, and we'll try and get it resolved as best as we can. But hijacking an unrelated thread is not the way to do it.

    Thank you for your understanding.

I tried to change my username = says I'm not allowed to...

I'd like to change from exumbra to ShawnBooth if at all possible. Also having difficulty changing avatar/pic - no matter what I upload, the pic is the OG one I initially uploaded.

Thanks for your time and help.

Gallery name or forum name? You can't change your forum name, but I can (PM me so I don't miss it).

Thanks Richard, I'd like to change my forum name to the same I have in the gallery, Jotaerre. EDIT: Oops it already was changed and I didn't noticed until now, my apologies.

I guess my gallery name was 1st or unique.

I'd like those 5 Table of Content Icons in the "My Gallery" to be on a line by themselves, followed by the 1st 5 sub galleries of "My Gallery", followed by the next 5 sub galleries of "My Gallery", and so on, ...
