War Weapons doesn't work for G8

I purchased this product because it states clearly that it work on G8 and G8.1.
I could not get it to work on G8.
When I apply a pose to G8 Male, the log file says:
2021-08-01 00:56:46.284 Invalid hierarchy for selected node(s) and "preset_hierarchical_pose" type; no root(s) found.
What am I doing wrong?
If it does not work I would like to request a refund.

Hierarchical pose presets require that the root [the main figure, not his hand, etc.] be selected. Hopefully the product came with a readme/instructions.
I don't own this set yet. Have had other products and this got them to work. I do not like H. poses.
It didn't come with any instructions.. I tried to find some since I too had this trouble with these poses :( Not sure what to actually select since I had the main figure selected, even tried with having the weapon selecting which didn't work either.
What has me concerned is that it Do work on genesis 8.1 males, and the thumbnails Only say 8.1... yet the product name clearly states it is for both 8 and 8.1 males. Makes me wonder if either the poses that are supposed to work for g8m were lost somehow or the product name is faulty.
Either way, I am going to file a ticket and if it doesn't get fixed and I get what I paid for I am going to return it
Do you have the main figure parented to a group, null or other object? That can throw hierarchical presets off.
In my case it is the main figure and nothing else, no parenting or anything. Heck the figure wasn't even dressed when I started to test it. Besides, it works with the g8.1 male without a problem and I did the exact same thing and exact same pose on them :(
As Catherine3678ab says these are probably Hierarchical Pose Presets that require the original figure to be at the base of the parenting tree - load 8.1, aply the pose, Edit>Copy, select Genesis 8, Edit>Paste>Paste Figure Pose.
If that's the case it's worth a support ticket, because the product is explicitely sold as for 8.1 and 8.0
Same here. Does not work on G8. But works on G8.1.
I'm just returning the product because I don't own any G8.1 figures except for the Base Male that comes with DAZ Studio.
I guess going forward, if a G8.1 pose product uses Hierarchical poses then I will avoid purchasing them, whether it says it's compatible with G8 or not.
I don't blame you! I stopped purchasing anything with Hierarchical in the mix, There are very few instances where it is actually needed.I find it confusing and pointless and vendors should stop using it.I wonder if DAZ makes them use it since it seems to be used more and more lately.
Seems like it. I am not ready to upgrade to G8.1 for several reasons because I have just invested so much into G8.
If the G8.1 Expressions and Hierarchical Poses worked on G8 it would be tempting to buy the pose products and expressions, but then there are all sorts of assets that do translate from G8 to G8.1, such as copying a figure shape from G8 to G8.1. And there just isn't enough content (expressions, etc) for G8.1 to justify the switch. If they ever release a G9 or G10 one day I might upgrade at that point.
I really love what they did with G8.1, I just wish there was more backward compatiblity with G8.
That would be fair if it wasn't for the product Claiming to be for BOTH G8 and G8.1. If that is how it has to work, than the product is Falsely claiming to be something it is not. I may give them a few more hours, to give them time to actualyl start work, than I will demand a refund unless it is fixed tbh cause I am not going to waste money on products that don't even hold up to what their product name claims.
You'd need to give them until Monday at least.
I will flag up that it lists Genesis 8 as a support ed figure, though.

Hope they can fix it. But my experience is that they are pretty backlogged.
Unfotunately this applys to many clothing products that say they are for 8 and 8.1. Just look thru the forums, lots of posts of clothing items that bring up the autofit dialouge when fitting to G8, but not G8.1 . Seems there is no way to make a single item work on 2 figures
I just submitted a ticket regarding this product. I bought it quite a while ago and hadn't tried using it until recently. It still hasn't been updated to work with Genesis 8. Let's hope it gets updated!
