ok.. I've had the program less than a day and I've fiddled with the tools... Here's my first garment... a skirt.. not perfect and it needs some bump and displacement... but for a first try I'm pretty happy...

I imported a simple ruffled skirt into DressShop and streeeeeeeetched it to the ground.. then imported it back into DAZ ... gave it Genesis rigging, textured it and waa laaa... a Broom Skirt!

If you don't know what a broom skirt is.. I'm showing my age.. ughh.. you can check the internet... but it's a full skirt with lots of wrinkles.. I had a few of them back in the 70s. They were veeeery comfortable and the hem was all raggedy... You could wad it up in a ball and the wrinkles added to the fun of the skirt.

I will render it again when it's completed... but this will do for now.. ENJOY!

edit... BELOW is a render of the same skirt with bump and displacement... it's amazing how different the skirt looks with a little texture... Hope you agree.. enjoy!

Nice one! I know nothing about dress shop but my guess would be there´s lots of presets for clothing that you can edit to make your own? : )

hi Toyen.. it's a pretty cool program for beginners... you get a long dress... a suit (top/pants) and a cape to start out with... but you really don't need more because you can IMPORT ...ANY... clothing item from genesis into the program then play with it as you wish... I loaded in a plain ruffled skirt from DAZ and then played with it to get a skirt of my own. It uses any OBJ clothing file... (If I'm wrong.. I'm sure someone will correct me ;)) I've only been playing with it for a day or so... ;) At 70percent off... it's a GREAT deal.. WHAT have ya got to loose??? Give it a try... we can be beginners together! :)

I see. I use Blender for modeling (clothes any anything else as well, but mainly clothes). It was kinda hard to learn and get used to but now it´s my main modeling tool : )

AS long as you remember that if you are using it to alter existing clothing, then you won't be able to re-distribute those articles, even modified.

ok.. Toyen.. you're a smarter person then me to figure out Blender... I wanted something quick and easy... and Dress Shop works for me ;)

Cho... I'm sure that is true for ANY program that imports OBJ. But I'm sure quite a few people work with an exhisting OBJs as a starting base? I wouldn't be able to tell once an item is textured, etc.. WHERE the base originally came from.

The EULA says quite clearly that

User may not reverse engineer, de-compile, disassemble, or create derivative works from the Content except as set forth in Section E above.

It is fine if you are doing it for your own use, but Such derivative works cannot be sold or given away to anyone else, which is why Dress shop expects you to either use the base models supplied or to create or download other base models yourself, rather than use existing model's OBJs.

agreed.. I didn't want to get into the legal stuff with this thread... ALL I want to see is what OTHER people have done with the program... please!

Here's a simple top I made to test if I could make a deeper scoop at the front neckline than the back. I had to divide the front from the back and there are a few bubbles along the seams but this texture shader helps hide them... not sure how to join front to the back AFTER I'm done editing it. I'm still learning... :) ENJOY!

Here's my new top with the broom skirt I made earlier... :)
As you can see the front has a lower neckline than the back and the front is cut up at the bottom to show her belly button whilst the back stays long. I did this by cutting the front from the back and making the adjustments. Although the seams don't match up the texture shader I used covers up the flaw pretty good on the seams. I just need to figure out how to join the front to the back together before exporting. Still working on it ;)

The top and broom skirt look very nice :) It does look really different once textured. Looks like you are having fun.
