no fit to option for gen 8

still stuck to use some genesis characters*
If I try to use gen 8 clothes
the originally designed to options include everything but gen 8
and with the "change of the arm positions"
fitting shirts is impossible.

generally I've worked around this by parenting genesis heads to gen 8 necks (and making stuff invisible)
but for the young version of the character -- genesis with "basic child" dialed in I can't match the shape for the kid

trying to get the youth shape from the marbles picture ... and the last picture shows how well the outfits fit on gen 8
but without the option to say originally designed for gen 8 the sleeves are messed up (middle pic on genesis character.

"Fit To" only appears when using an earlier model's clothing on a later model. They can't make it backwards compatible with something that didn't exist at the time.
You would need to buy one of RiverSoftArt's converter products if you wanted to make it compatible.
this is a genesis figure with a gen8 piece of clothing selected to be fit.
the tube top worked with gen 3 as the original selected figure.
the issue is the change in default arm positions.
I suppose I may have purchased clones for fitting that are working in this.
and the converter products (whiich I have convert up not down.)
If I understand you correctly - because it's not at all obvious from what you wrote - you're trying to fit some Genesis 8 clothing to a Genesis figure.
If it's offering you G3 as an option when you try to autofit, you must have bought or otherwise obtained a clone to do that - it won't do it out of the box for the reason Margrave gives above.
If you can't find a G8 clone for Genesis, you could try using this technique to fit the clothes to a G3 (or autofit if you have a clone). The "G3" clothing that you'll have after that can be autofitted to Genesis.
... or you can use of those free auto-fit clones mentioned in my signature ;-) Works well for getting sleeves and/or pant legs to go where they should.

first thing I did was check for clothing converters ..
River and SY have done a bunch you find them in the RSSY shop.
I checked there and I own all the converters to change old ones to 8
but nothing there to go the over way.

today I googled (instead of searching DAZ)
and look there's a converter from 8 to 3 ... and I own it but it's just from Riversoft.

Of course the outfit I was trying to work with hasn't been converted yet but I tried another outfit converted from g8 to g3 and whatever clone I have installed will fit 8s converted to 3s to genesis.
And a flick of the eartip to riversoft... his 8 to 3 conversion creates clothes that convert beautifully to genesis.
