Genesis 8 series Body proportions

More and more Genesis characters are getting more realistic.   I remember when I started down this DAZ journey in mid 2018, being disappointed that my renders didn't look very life-like.   It was usually the teeth and the eyes that gave things away.  That said, there's still more work to be done.

Before retiring, I was a portrait artist and photographer.   Recently, trying to get a Gen 8 figure (and the same applies to 8.1) to look just right, I noticed that the necks on all Genesis 8 females are overly long.  Of course, I can go in to the morphs and shorten them, but it's my opinion (and preference) that future figures have a shorter neck by default.   Few people have necks that long. (Measuring from clavical to  back of mandible.)

For now, I'll just create a preset that shortens the neck.

I noticed that myself. The eyes are also often way too big.

  • The legs are also often too long, and the torso too short. Easy to fix, but I do wonder why this is so.

Yes, I've noticed that too.   When posing a character in a seated pose, is when the short torso plays out.

Yup, it leaves me wondering why that's the case.  I understand stylized characters that are almost cartoon-like, but people who are supposed to look like people should be more average proportion based.  While there are some people in real life with long necks, long legs, short torsos, they are exceptions to the norm.
