PostgreSQR application files? Where do they Live?

PostgreSQR application files? Where do they live? how do I get them? how do I install them?

Rebooted my PC and daz just died on me.

it was running fine before the reboot, after i get the stupid PostgreSQR CMS message every time i load the program.

I've checked my internet connection, checked my firewalls, told my antivirus to let Daz through unchallenged.

the only thing I havn't done is check the intallation of the PostgreSQR application files, because i have no information as to how to do that.

If anyone knows, I'd love to hear how to fix this.

Daz is completely unusable like this, and it keeps telling me it can't find content from the image i was working on right before the reboot.

I didn't uninstall anything, so for some reason daz is messing with me, and won't allow access to my installed content.

Honestly, i never use the damn daz connect nonsense or the smart content, why does this stupid connect software have to hide my user library that I organized of content that lives on my harddrive? it makes no sense.

I can't even find my third party software in this mess.

  • By default, for an Install Manager install, C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\PostgreSQL CMS\

    Richard,

I did somehting in DS 4.15 several days ago that trashed many of the categorizations (figure, poses, materials, etc.) of content files and I have spent many hours over the past two weeks recategorizing files.  Most, but not all, of the lost categorizations are associated with content installed from Poser but categorizations for some DS content (manual and DIM installs) were lost too.  Attached is an example from one Poser content.  Many thumbnail images in Smart Content were lost too.

I'd like to backup the database where the categorizations are maintained so that I could recover from something like this without taking weeks to do so.  Would that be my PostgresSQL CMS folder?  All of the files there have dates in May 2014.

    Thanks.

The location of the database is set in Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings tab. make sure no application that uses the database is running when you try to back it up (it uses multiple files, if it was running there is a risk that you would get some before an update and some after).

So it's installed OK, but you are still getting the connection warning? Have you looked to see if PostgreSQL isa ctually running when DS runs - in Task Manager you wil need toe nable More Details and scan through the list of running processes.

    Richard,

Thanks for pointing me to where I can find the location of my cms database file.  I was thinking that it might be in the AppData folder.

It is installed, right where you said it would be, but i don't see it running in the task manager when i run DS.

is there a way to turn it on manually?

there are some .exe files in the bin folder and some .html files in other folders, but i'm heasitant to poke anything with a stick not knowing what these executibles actually are.

I can't seem to find anything about Postgre "care and feeding" on the internet, and the only Readme file i've found in the folder has a weird .pldebugger extension

  • Just to be sure my description is clear, task manager is like this and when you scroll down there is no trace of postgreSQL if DS is running? How about if Install Manager or Daz Central are running?

  • Problem seems to have spontaneously healed itself over the weekend.

it is nice having Daz again, but it is a bit unsatisfying not knowing how to fix that problem if it ever comes up again.

especially since it took several days to get around to healing itself...

    oh well,

Thank you very much for your help
