So I remember when I was a kid in the midwest I would see these small houses that were converted into businesses for some reason.  Old looking single level houses, something that would be found in a rundown neighborhood.  The type of place that would have a sign out front and be home to a fortune teller, cheap CPA or other co-op business.  If that makes sense.
