Does anyone have any suggestions for one of the myriad indoor lighting programs DAZ offers in the marketplace?

For Iray or 3Delight?
This is my go-to for Iray portrait types: https://www.daz3d.com/easy-portraits--light-presets
I bought the product and cannot figure out how to use it. It mentions a log file, but I have no idea where to find it. I just wanted to be able to point and click on something to produce a preset lighting scene. I am totally lost. The pictures that appear in the Smart Content LIbrary are no help at all.
Go to your lights tab and look and see if it list any lights that are in the scene.
Just add 3 spotlights to the scene, one in front and two in the back on both sides of the figure/object you are trying to light and save it as a scene subset, which you can then load into your subsequent scenes.
For Iray, you must set them to "Photoreal", it may take a while to find the settings you like, but once you get them right, you have consistent source of light that doesn't color your scene in psycedelic tones or produce any other 'cool' effects.
Log file can be found in Help->Troubleshooting->View Log File
Well I use the Content Library myself. Just click on any one of those icons ... what it does is visible when one renders. It draws the dome, so turn that off if not desired [will give one the green/grey dome as in the icon]. Your own background setting will override that of course.
Stupid me. I was using an old program using Smart Content. I tried looking in the Content Manager and the new program came up and seems to work as promised in the promo.
Glad you found it somehow and got it working, hope you like it :-)
It changes everything for me with DAZ. Now I can simply dial up products and use the outside and indoor lighting products to create useful renderings that I can composite using Photoshop. Thanks for your help!
You're welcome :-)
If ever you need a little more light on the figure, those easy-make mesh lights are good. Make a sphere, set emission colour to white [turns it on], change to the "k*" setting, maybe about 500 or so, cut-out to 0.0001 - make sure sphere is not between the camera and target. Iray likes a lot of light.
Thanks! You know, a simple indoor lighting program is really all I need. Are there any other indoor or outdoor lighting programs that you can recommend?
There are several nice ones available in the store. Each has their own goal in mind. For example some are for casting various shadows over the figures, going black/white, etc. It's often a matter of personal preference and what you're trying to achieve for a certain look in your renders.
I would suggest reading through the product pages and "wishlisting" those of interest ... and hopefully in October they go might on sale for a day. It's normally the PC Club's anniversary sales month and many products are $1.99 for a day. Good time to stock up on lights, poses, and things like that.
