Pose mixing question

I'm playing with 3DUniverse's Little Ones bundle and want to make a blend of two of the poses that I bought for the series of characters. I'm not trying to blend poses from other figures or even use other g3 poses just yet (although it would be nice if I could for future needs), I just want to use the top of one and the bottom of another.

I've had scripts in the past that allowed me to mix and match poses for the gen 4 figures, and I have one that allows the mix n match of g3 to g8 and visa versa, but I don't know how it's done with the same figure and same pose product. Any ideas? Is there a manual way for me to do this?

If you Ctrl click on the pose preset, a dialogue opens that allows you to apply the pose to specific bones.
  • That's another case where adequate documentation would be invaluable. Could have gone a lifetime without ever finding that out. Thanks.

If you have Pose Details (https://www.daz3d.com/pose-details), it will work with V4/M4 through G8.1

Thanks ... one of those little tricks no one talks about much.

Lol ... I know, right? I've learned so much more here in the forums than I ever did through Daz tutorials.

I am so going to be grabbing that on payday!!! I love your scripts. I see it also works on some non-people figures. Is it only for Daz pose files or also Poser pose files? Either way, this is going to be a very helpful tool.

Thanks for the help, everyone :)

I'm doing something wrong ... can you explain it step-by-step for me? I can't buy the friendly script till this client pays me, frown.

Hold down ctrl (cmd for a Mac) and double-click the preset to load it.

I tried that ... It just changed the entire figure pose to the new pose. Then I tried right-clicking and it brings up a drop-down list, none of which reads 'preset'.

Select, for example, pelvis. Hold down ctrl and double-left-click on the pose you want to apply.

A window will open. If you change Node to Selected and Propagation to Recursive, the pose will apply only to the lower body. (to pelvis and it's children bones)

If you wanted to pose only selected bones, you would then set Propagation to Selected only.

That helped .. thanks :) I'll have to remember which thread this was in till I can buy the script, lol.

Holding down the crtl key also works with other things, like applying textures. it gives you other options like keeping the same textures, but applying the material settings, etc.

Wow ... I have been going nuts making the LO kids custom poses using this tip. Why on Earth did I never see this tip since DS3? lol ... But it's not stopping me from buying River's script so I can use it on EVERYTHING. I LOVE TOOLS THAT MAKE MY LIFE EASIER ... lol ... Worth their money, for sure.

Hmmm ... please explain the difference between textures and material settings ...

Textures are image files, material settings specify which shader to use and which textures and values to apply to its different properties (or a subset thereof)

I'm still not understanding ... is there a video or something that shows the difference?

Try a texture is an ingredient, a material is a recipe.

Again ... that doesn't tell me how the end look is different or can be made different with the control key. I need a visual to understand the difference. I just select the figure and apply whatever MAT is usable. Is it an iray-thing or also 3DL? Or it doesn't matter. I just don't understand the difference.
