Some textures are not rendering, why?

Hey guys,

While I have been using content from Daz in Poser for quite a while, such as textures and props, but I am relatively new to actually using the program Daz.

Anyways, I have been rendering various images in the past couple of weeks and I have a few questions about Daz.

As you can see by the screen shots below, the first one is of the scene before it is rendered. You can clearly see that there are images/textures that are on the screen panels in the background.

Yet, when I go to render, it does not render all of the textures. See attached files

I have other questions that I will ask in a later posts, but for now, thanks in advance

  • Judging by the faint image in the centre panel I suspect they are just too dark. You could try seelcting those surfaces with the Surface Selection tool, then in the Presets tab of the Surfaces pane apply the Iray Uber base, and in the Editor tab set the emission colour to white and apply the base colour map for the display; then experiment with the luminosity to get them to gently glow.

  • Hey @Richard Haseltine,

Thank you for responding. I would have replied quicker but I never received a notice that someone had responded. Plus, under my profile, it states that I have no posts, so it took a little bit to find my own post :-)

I tried what you have suggested and I thought it was going to work, because I could see all the images become brighter when I would change the Emission> Emission Color from black to white, but alas, they still do not render -- see attached files. Please keep in mind that the rendered file is just a screenshot, because the actual file is 4K in resolution and the file size is over 10 MBs

  • Any chance that those are dual layer screens? Use the surface tool to see if there's a "glass" in front - if there is turn down the cutout/opacity on it.

    Hey @Richard Haseltine

I re-read your post and it works. What I changed this time around, was that I changed the Base Color to white as well and it rendered - at least this version which is facing the front view screen.

If it does not work facing the other display viewports in the other direction, then I will report. Otherwise, thank you for your suggestions, they worked perfectly - see attached screenshots

    Thanks in advance

Incidentally, when converting a TV display or the like from 3dlight to iray (that is, when you have applied iray uber to the surface(s) to convert it over), it is also useful to then go to the Emmission Color in surfaces (it's under Emission in the surface) and apply the same picture into that.  Basically go to the Base Color (under Base), look for the little square on the left (the one with the image showing as a tiny thumbnail, and that has the little down-pointing traingle), mouse over that, and note where the path to the image is, then go into the Emission Color, click on the little square with the down-triangle in it, select Browse on the drop down that appears, then navigate over to where that picture is and add it.  It makes the screen glow those colors and (maybe?  I might be misrembering this bit) makes the image show up better in the render.
