Hi, I am trying to learn how to use photoshop/gimp to modify texture map especially on the topic of how to lessen the strength of crow's feet on character's face,

therefore I would like to ask some experience from people who have done it before.

Thank you for your time.

I usually copy part of the smoother (without crows feet) skin around/near the crows feet (to minimize color difference) with feathered edges and layer it over the crows feet, and then try different blending modes to see which mode gives the most natural result (ie still retains skin like texture). I don't like just mask the crows feet and mess with the blur effects, because that usually gives unnatural results

Use the clone stamp (Photoshop) to copy skin texture from another region without crow feet but a similar skin tone. Maybe use the smudge tool to blend it a bit. Don't forget to alter bump/normal map the same way.
