Dformer parts?

I've been using Dformers for a bit in DAZ Studio but I only really understand just a bit about them. I know the dformer has 3 parts to it. The Base, D-former, and field. I know that the field adjusts how much of the figure the d-former will affect. And I know the d-former actually makes the adjustments. But I don't quite understand about the base. The base seems a little like the field but not quite. I also know that the base default location is the center of the un-posed figure. But why would you want to move the base apart from the field?

Thanks,

  • The base lets you scale the dFormer without affecting the mesh, but its functional siginificance doesn't show until you use the dForm to scale or rotate - the base defines the centre point for those operations.
