Some Daz Clothing/Hair Items Now No Longer Fit

There are several clothing and hair items that no longer fit characters that they used to fit. They were bought in the daz store, show up in smart content, and are design for, and used to fit, Genesis 1. The characters use a combination of Genesis 1 morphs (some from from daz store and some third party ones). If I load up scenes saved with them fitting properly to a character in the scene they now no longer fit correctly. The items are now the wrong proportions (hair doesn't fit on the scalp, and shirts are much wider on the chest and poke through). This seem like it happened around version 4.12. Reinstalling or reloading metadata does nothing. What's going on here, and is there a solution?

Just in the 1st party products specifically for Genesis 1 (not counting the converted items or 3rd party items that started doing this) there are these products which now distort.

Clothes: Nata Bikini from Nata for Genesis, Hitomi Lace from Hitomi 3d Anime Girl, Amethyst Fantasy for Genesis

Hair: SallyMae Hair from Genesis Starter Essentials, Nata Toon Hair for Genesis, Hitomi Rings Hair, Actual Hair Genesis, Jazlyn Hair, Marja Hair, and Xenia Hair

Most the items fit if I use the default Genesis morph and the basic female morphs. It's when I try to fit them to Genesis 1 characters I've made through a combination of morphs that I get the problem. I know the scene files did not have the distortions in them originally as I had completed them. I haven't checked if remaking them one morph at a time will make a difference yet. Also sometimes I'll save clothes to a preset and upon reload the item that fit no longer does, though this isn't the case with most items.

  • Try selecting the problem items and in the Parameters pane, under Constraints, change the Fit To Mode to the other option - does that make any difference?

Some fitting problems can be corrected by selecting the figure and choosing Edit->Figure->Rigging->Adjust Rigging to Shape

Here's Ly Waverly, a rather slim character morph, with Hiromi Lace and Actual Hair.  Left is Waverly default morph, middle Raw Hobbit and right Raw Dwarph morphs applied on top of default.  Had to apply a Smoothing Modifier to Top and Bottom to make them fit better to all of them, Top had a lot of poke through without for Hobbit and Dwarf, Bottom a bit too loose for them all.  Actual Hair won't autofit to the Dwarf for some reason but works fine with the Hobbit.  DS 4.15.0.2.

I have DS 4.10.0.107 installed as well as all the products you mention, so if you want you could send me the scene files then I can check if they load differently in 4.10 versus 4.15.

I remade one of my characters by looking at the morph list, and still had the problem. I narrowed down which morphs are causing the issue. They are a few from Genesis Evolution: Body Morphs product. They cause the problem on a default Genesis Basic Female if any of these listed below aren't set to 0 (I haven't tested Genesis Basic Male, but probably it occurs there too).

    morphs distorting clothes and hair
chest width (makes clothes/hair x scale too much)
chest scale (makes clothes/hair scale too much)
chest depth (makes clothes/hair z scale too much)
torso length (makes clothes/hair y scale too much)
"scaling up abdomen" <NOT MORPH> (makes clothes/hair y scale too much)

    morphs distorting hair only
neck length (makes hair y scale too much)

Not sure why body morphs are affecting hair at all. The chest and torso morphs are also affect clothing on the chest, scaling it about 1.5 times the size things should scale to (eg. 1.5 times the width increase for chest width).

...I sometimes have these issues with a few of my custom morphed characters as I use a number of different merchant resource morph and shaping kits.

One of the more frustrating was the Boho Dress for G3F which on my Leela character would not fit properly to her shoulders no matter what I did. I actually had to go into the FBMs for the garment itself to make an adjustment which fixed the matter.
