Problem with Clothing Prop

Some time ago I bought Genesis Basic Wear For Women and used it without problems for many months.
Some months ago however something happened to it and now any time I open a scene using a clothing prop from this mod it comes out all boxey and weird looking, and nothing I do can make it usable. I have tried uninstalling and reloading this clothing mod but nothing works. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it? It's one of my favorite props to use and I really hate not being able to use it anymore.

We can't se an item on your product library.
You should link to the store https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-basic-wear-for-women
From what you are describing, it sounds as you are missing mesh-data.
How are you installing?
I've been using Daz Install manager. (DIM).
How do I restore missing mesh data? (I'm afraid I'm very bad at figuring out tech stuff like that).
I can make and attach a render showing how it looks if that would help.
I have a suspecion that it might have been installed with Connect also.
Try go to Help > Troubleshooting > View log file and find the entries for the clothing. Then there will probably be an error. If you can't find it try to attach the last part of the log file.
I don't understand how to do that last part (I assume you meant to attach it here?), and the most recent errors listed have nothing to do with the prop at hand even though I just loaded a scene with it specifically for this purpose. I just get lines of code. I will try to attach a sacreenshot showing lines that are relevant to the particular prop. It's a very extensive list but I found a group way down nearf the bottom.
Also tried to make a render of what the character wearing a pair of shorts from this mod looks like but the shorts do not show up on the render at all. The character appears along with other (unrelated) clothing props he is wearing (ranger boots and a golf shirt) but the character's shorts do not; making him look... naked there.
I was wrong, it isn't errors - it is warnings.
And as I suspected it it looking in your cloud directory (Daz Connect).
If you go to Smart Content > Products and find the product is there then a triangle on the icon?
If so, try to right-click and select uninstall (that will uninstall it from Daz Connect). And then try to restart Daz Studio and try to load it again.
I don't see the product listed Smart Content > Products. In fact I only see a relatively tiny (and kind of random) minority of the literally thousands of products I own listed there; most of these not even being used at the moment since I choise a simple image with a character wearing some of the clothings and nothing else in the scene at all..
Many of the prodsucts I do see listed have upside-down triangles inside circles on the upper right corner of the thumbnails, but none of these are giving me any problems last I knew.
When I look at the prop inside the Content Library however, everything there is listed but with a triangle with an ! in the center, .
Sigh... Yet another DAZ Connect victim...Not only has it installed products the second time, but botched those installations with corrupted files as well...
To save yourself from a lot of problems, do not log in to DS and use DS in offline mode only.
When you are talking about what you see in Content Library, are you talking about "Products" and/or "Categories"?
Those are also just virtual views that rely on the database, the real content in real folders can be found under "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats"
Under Smart Content I see two tabs Files and Products. I usually leave it set on Files but tabbed it temporarily to products to comply with Felis's question. I don't even see a Categories tab there.
I'm afraid zI didn't really understand most of the rest of what you have just said. I don't even know what DAZ Connect is, nor do I remember ever using it. And all I really want right now are simple easy-even-for-a-dolt-like-me instructions to make this product work for me again so I can use my favorite clothing props.
Content Library, see the Tab Name at the top of the attached pic.
DAZ Connect is used whenever you install and/or update anything inside DS, and it installs the products to a "Cloud" folder, when all the other installation methods are using a different place for installing products.
What's bad with DAZ Connect is that anything installed with it, gets priority over stuff installed with other methods (even when the DAZ Connect installations are corrupt)
You should uninstall the product in 'Smart' Content, and restart DS to see if you get the DIM installed one working again.
Ah, yes. Okay. I *have* been doing that a lot lately, partly because it is easy for quick installs of something I needd quickly and also because if I installed everything in my product library my C drive (which only has a small percentage of the actual disk space for God knows what reason) would quickly run out of space and I haven't been able to figure out how to make DIM load it to my D drive, which for some reason had the vast majority of the available space.
Only, what or where is 'Smart' Connect? I'll try your suggestion, once I understand what you're trying to telling me.
Connect can have problems, though support is usually able to fix bad products quite quickly, but it isn't inherently evil - the main thing you don't want to do 9and shouldn't need to do) is isntall through both Connect and Central/Install Manager. One benefit of Connect is that there is nor risk of a path mismatch between installer and Daz Studio
Sorry, Smart Content.
But i can't find it there! I don't see most of the other products I have there either tbh.
I see it in the Content Library though. Will uninstalling from Content Library work?
Seems to me I tried that when this problem first apopeared with a subsequent re-install from DIM before and got nowhere (hence one reason I am here) but I'm willing to try again.
Okay, I managed to find it; I didn't have the smart content set for wardrove like I thought I had. So anyway I have uninstalled it there, but I'm still stuck as the product is *not* re-appearing in the DIM where I can re-install it.
So it's currently uninstall through Connect (within Daz Studio) but installed through DIM (the uninstall option in Daz Studio won't touch that) and you can't see its files in Content Library>Daz Studio Formats? That would indicate that Daz Studio is not looking in the folder DIM is isntalling to. Use the link above the code for this script http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/install_manager_config_import/start to download it, then drag it into the Daz Studio Viewport - does that enable the files 9and probably the product)?
I am cinfused by your reply. I do see the product listed under Products (uninstalled), which I assume is part of the DAZ Studio Formats in the Content Library. It's in DIM where I no longer see it listed. And I do not understand your instruction about the link at all. Sorry for being dense.
Edit: After a nice nap I *finally* figured out what I was doing wrong. I was stupidly failing to look for the product in the Installed section in DIM (I told you I was a dolt!). Well, I found it there, uninstalled there, and then re-installed it in DIM. Voila! poroblem solved!
Thank you for helping; especially for PertiaA. Your tip about DIM and DAZ Connect gave me the clue In needed to finally figure out what dopey me was doing wrong all this time. It made all the difference! Thank you very much! :-)
In case you don't see my earlier reply since it wasn't a reply to you, dopey me finally figured the problem out. It was what you said about the difference between using FIM and Daz Connect that enabled me to figure out (finally!) what I (an old dope) was doing wrong. The product works now - for the first time since I started using this particular computer! Thank you very much for the help. I am happy now that I can use this prosuct again! :-)
The Content Library has five top-level containers - Daz Studio Formats, Poser Formats, and Other Import Formats all show the actual files on disc (except for the Daz Connect virtual folder at the top of each list). Products and categories are both populated by the database, so they may show an issue when the file view deosn't.
Part of what confused me was that even thoiugh I uninstalled the product inside DAZ Studio I still had ti uninstall it in DIM as well; so it did not occur to me to check the installed files there. Once the other person (I forgot their name now; PertiaA or something like that (I can't scrioll up to look it up while tyoping this for some reason) pointed out in the difference in installs between the two and I actually slept on the matter a bit it all fell into place and I was able to get the problem fixed. Now I know I should use DIM only for installs I guess, and now I know how to fix the problem if it happens again elsewhere. Anyway, thank you for replying - even if dim-witted me still didn't really understand how what you just said could have helped me! lol Sorry. I'm a dolt when it comes to anything technical, I'm afraid. ;-)
