bones merging

I'm trying to rig a chain and it was imported already broken up into face groups. The bones keep merging together. What stupid thing amd I doing?

I'm not following what you are doing, or what you mean by the bones merging.
Like they all combine into one group and move together.
Also this. Different bones are moving the same area.
Ok here's where I'm having a problem I think. The chain has all it's bones and the end piece is weight mapped to 100%. Then when I want to add weight mapping to the next bone it's adding it to both of them. How can I make it only affect the right bone and not all the bones after?
