The Shop resetting your sort by Preferences everytime?

edited August 2021 in The Commons

Can someone tell me why when you go to the shop and select a figure, then Filter by... if you look at a product, when you return it resetts back to default? Default is "New Arrivals" . I usually set it to Price, or Most Popular. It drives me insane! Sometimes I end up just closing after a while because it takes forever with it resetting every single time. Also a lot of times it also sends me back to the top of the page.

Also note that when it resetts it loads over 4k items. In my chosen filtered state it loads like 278 items.

  • The reason for this is that it was designed by someone who never uses the shop and has never had to put up with it. If they had used the shop like that just once in their life, they'd have made it work sensibly.

I have problems like that too.  I'm guessing that the problem is that the browsers - Firefox, Safari, etc. do not load the pages the same way, and now there is the problem that every website is trying to format every page for desktop, tablet, and cell phone.

My solution (I use Firefox), is to open two tabs for DAZ3D, next to each other.  One one tab I choose how I want to filter the resuls of my search - and then I DO NOT CLICK ON ANY PRODUCT LINK.  When I see a product I want to look at the sales page for, I click the 2nd DAZ3D tab and just type the name of the product in the search box.  That way, I can filter my results and open the individual pages without the filter changing.

I believe some browsers still give you the opportunity to "open results in new tab" automatically.

I guess if you shop on your phone, you'll have to buy a second phone to open DAZ3D in that one too.wink

  • Rich...LOL.. I agree. But it makes no sense. If the designer/creator of the filter tested it , you'd think they really tested it? I mean why have the option if it don't work properly.

And Fauvist... Good Idea! But ya know, I don't know what happened but tonight when I was looking I was using Firefox and it worked properly. I thought boy that was fast. lol.. I use firefox too . We'll see if it works the next time.

I think what happens is that if you filter your results, and then click on one of the products that show up - the product page opens - and if you go back to your results, they may still be filtered the way you wanted - but if you open a product page, and then click on ONE OF THE THUMBNAIL IMAGES to englarge it - and then go back to your search page - THEN the filters are gone.

  • I long ago got into the habit where I right-click the product that is showing in search, and tell it to open on a new tab.

Same here, and on the daily sales page, I even open every category sale into a seperate tab, and the products I want to see from those in their seperate tabs as well.
The tabs of products I decide against, I close again, so at the end, I have all the products I'd like to buy open, each on a seperate tab.
Only then I start adding stuff to my cart, simply going through all the tabs I left open (and usually let it simmer for a while, sometimes re-considering products I picked and closing their tabs as well)
After I made a purchase, I go through all the tabs again, hit refresh, and check whether the products all get that nice red "purchased" button, just to make sure everything went right.

  • On Chrome Browser on my Samsung tablet you can hold your finger on a link and you have a menu choice pop up. One is to open in a new browser tab

  • I shall try that. Don't think the menu has ever popped up for me accidentally, but may do so deliberately. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Richard.
