Small pet peeve i know but so many times im playing around with sims and then go to render to see how it looks only to reset the sim : /
I don't think so, but you might try docking the panes on opposite sides of the Viewport (drag the tab from the curent view to the tab well on the other side) to reduce the risk.
Personally, I always use CTRL+R to render, so I don't have this problem.
It just seems it's good user interface design to place those buttons in different locations in the pane or make them different colors.
