wipe a gtx before selling it?

The question might be stupid. Before selling a gtx/rtx card, is it recommended to 'format' it somehow?

I wonder if it somehow stores data, e.g. render data, things it displayed, or others.

It has some persistent memory after all, but I do not know how to look at its contents.

Unlike SSD's and HDD's which are designed to permanently store data.. Videocard memory just like your computers main system memory, is volitile memory in that any data used is stored temporarily..

In short the memory on your videocard can not be formatted/wiped.. The only part of the card that stores anything is the videocards bios, and the data on that is very much needed for the videocard to work..

So you can quite happily sell your videocard with no issue..

There is some extra memory e.g. for the bios. It is like 16 megabytes I think.

I think you will find that, that ram is for the GPU's bios where it can store it's settings, and where from time to time you can update a videocards bios.. Eitherway there is no way to do what you wan't on a videocard, and if you tried you will more than likely brick your videocard, making it a giant paperweight..
